my parents are planning to come to canada to visit but their TRV will expire in a bit less than a month and wanted to know if there will be any issue. An new appliation has been made but with the long processing times at the moment it might not come in time and so wondering if they will be able to enter even with the old one?
WOuld also highly appreciate it if someone has a link from the official IRCC website that supports this?

They can enter before expiry. Not sure what you mean by extension because an extension can only be applied for if they are in Canada. Assume you meant they applied for a new TRV.

It shouldn't be an issue. However your comment regarding the extension is a bit confusing. You cannot extend the validity of a TRV - you have to apply for a new one. Extension can only be applied for when the visitor is in Canada and all they do is allow you to extend your stay in Canada (they do not extend the duration of the TRV itself).

Hi, I have same condition. My Dad's passport is expiring in April mid but he planning to come here by March 3rd week due to some pending work back home. Though he has a new valid passport for 10 years, but i am just wondering if the Toronto Pearson border security allow them enter canada and stay for 2-3 months. Did you make your parent's tickets or got any update in this case. I dont find any recommendation for this case.

anyone can suggest please?

It is always up to CBSA to determine how long a visitor can stay in Canada when they enter. If your father has a new passport why is he not using the new passport and show the visa in his old passport? He should purchase a return flight and in many cases the airlines require you to purchase a return flight to fly to Canada. If your parent was able to qualify for TRV, still has enough funds to support his travels, has no signs of planning to move to Canada versus just visiting, has no signs of trying to work in Canada without authorization, doesn’t have any new serious medical condition or communicable disease, etc. he should be fine and will likely be granted the 6 months.
