Hi Experts, my mom is 72 years old and coming to Canada on PR, she only has the passport with PR stamp and no other documents, does she needs to carry photographs with her? What other documents she needs to carry with her. She does not understand or speak English, I am really worried about her, please help me to get her prepared to enter into Canada. Advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Dwarkesh

Hi Dwarkesh,

As for English, I am sure they will be someone that CBSA can call to translate for her. Yes she will need passport photographs and I think proof of income or some sort of financial document to show that she has money to help herself financially in Canada. See here for passport photograph size: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/new-immigrants/pr-card/apply-renew-replace/photo.html

Also see here for a few more documents your mother might need (in the list below, I am sure there are some she will not need, so just focus on the ones she will need) :

https://settlement.org/ontario/immigration-citizenship/landing-and-leaving/landing-in-canada/what-documents-should-i-bring-with-me-when-landing-in-canada-as-a-new-immigrant/

Hope this helps.

Has she actually landed already or is she coming to land?

If she has not yet landed, she must have her COPR and passport. She does not need anything else to land.

If she has already landed, she needs a PR card or PRTD.

Photos and proof of funds are not needed.

It's worrying that you don't mention the 2 page COPR document that should have accompanied the passport+visa counterfoil.
