Hopeful for some advice.

I am planning to travel to Canada for a holiday this summer with a group of friends from the UK. One of the group overstayed in the US by a period of one year, 9 years ago. He left the US voluntarily in 2004 and has not attempted to return. He now has a new passport. Will the border officials in Canada be alerted to his period of overstaying in the US? Will he need to declare it on arrival in Canada? Will it effect his admission to Canada?

Grateful for any views

He should have no issues. He doesn't have to mention this overstay unless asked. I doubt they will ask.

Yes - Canadian immigration knows about US visa refusals. The US and Canada share information.

hello

Can US visa refusal effect Canadian TRV. My us visa was refused 5 times in Nepal(American Embassy). And i have submitted document for Canadian TRV in new Delhi High Commission at that time my trv is refused .Is that the reason for my trv rejection.

Yes - US visa refusals can affect a Canadian TRV application. If you have a large number of refusals, CIC may believe you have plans to overstay your visa once you reach Canada.

It's impossible for me to say if this is why your TRV was refused. You will have to wait until you get a letter from CIC explaining the reasons for the refusal.

Hi

Thank you for your reply

Can you please help me by giving more information about my case.

I have applied us student visa before 5 years(first time) and at that time i was rejected by saying i didnt did more research about my course and i again apply after some time but at that time also i was rejected by giving reply that my purpose to visit us is not clear and same reason for other time also.

And, In the case of Canadian TRV me and my wife applied at the same time, me in trv and her in student visa but i was rejected. In rejection paper there are 3 reasons.

1.purpose of visit
2.your personal assets and financial status
3.i am not satisfied that you have sufficient fund including income or assets to carry out your stated purpose in going to Canada.

At that time i only show my salary sheet from my office i didnt show my business income because my dad have sufficient income for me too.
my dad sponsor my wife and me.

Please help me because i want to reapply again in my wife convocation in April, Now she is studying in Toronto.

What should i do this time i have got many information from this site and want more.
