Hi friends,

I got my Canadian PR in 2011 and my PR card will EXPIRE on 08 AUG 2016 . Unfortunately I have stayed in Canada only for one month over these 5 years period.I was working in the Middle East. Now I am planning to go back to Canada with my family for ever. I am planning to travel in JULY 2016( 1 MONTH BEFORE PR CARD EXPIRY).My Questions are

1)Will the authorities will allow me to enter Canada in JULY???
2)If I enter, can I stay in Canada for 2 years with an expired PR card and apply to renew the same??

Need your valuable advice

Thanks,
JAI

1) They will allow you to enter but they may report you for not meeting the RO (residency obligation). If they do, you can appeal their decision and you remain a PR and may continue to stay in Canada during the processing of your appeal. However, if you don't have humane and compassionate grounds for why you could not meet the RO, you will lose the appeal and lose your PR and will be asked to leave.

2) If they don't report you on entry, you can stay in Canada for two years at which point you meet the RO again and can apply to renew your PR cards. Do not apply to renew until you have at least 2 years in Canada.

Thank you Leon :)
I will try to travel by APRIL 2016 to avoid further issues as you mentioned.
