Is there a difference if you enter Canada via air or via land if I'm coming from a vacation in the US? I'm from the Philippines, but I'm thinking of going to the US first for a vacation, then drive to Canada after to start my school. Is this possible?

To those who entered Canada already as an international student, did you have a round-trip airfare ticket or a 1-way ticket will do? I noticed that you can only buy the ticket with a return trip valid for a year only. Since I have a 2 year program, my return ticket will be during my studies.

Just keep in mind that you will need to be convincing to both the airline and on arriving in the US on a one way ticket then driving to Canada. Flying direct to Canada on a one way with a study permit is not an issue but via the US with a road trip as opposed to onward flight can be unpredictable so ensure you can show you have no plans to stay in US. Having said that very easy to overthink things but with proper backup documentation should be fine.

Good point. Better to fly to Canada with a 1-way ticket then. Thanks!
