I am a dual national. For reasons that are too lengthy to explain here, I entered Canada one time with a passport that does not match the nationality of my PR card.

Is this a problem? Is one required always to show one's PR card when entering Canada? Is one forbidden from using another passport (different to the nationality that one used to get PR) to enter Canada?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh no..you are doomed...

Just kidding, generally speaking you should always enter Canada using your PR card rather than a passport. However, if you were able to enter just using your passport (either one, as long as it is not fake one) you are fine. Make sure though you have all your passports and stamps available for CIC check when you will be applying for the citizenship.

@sashali78 ,

My PR card was issued as a Indian national but now I am a Portuguese and gave up my Indian citizenship. Can I travel on the same PR card back to Canada showing my cancelled Indian Passport and new Portuguese passport?

Would be grateful if you could point me to some resource for reference

The nationality on your PR card doesn't matter. Many people have multiple nationalities and travel on whichever passport they want.
