Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
When waiting to my sponsorship application as a common law to be approved outside of Canada, Can one enter Canada as a tourist for the meanwhile?
If my application will be approved (and consider no interview would be required), can I send my passport to the visa office outside Canada by mail and get it back with my PR visa? Is that the way it works?

Thanks...

Hi boaz,

You can enter Canada as a visitor when your PR application is in process. But once your application is approved I doubt you will be able to send in your passport outside Canada by mail as its considered illegal. But it could also depend on your VO. In middle east since the only visa office that processes such applications is the Abu Dhabi VO so neighbouring countries applicants have no other choice but to send their passport by one of the courier companies and it works. Even the embassy website advices applicants to send in their passports through Aramex. I would suggest check with the embassy or the courier first...

Thanks for your response.
My visa office is Tel-Aviv. hopefully i'll be able to do so because othervise it means ofcourse to fly all the way back just for that and get back to Canada - which is quite expensive...

Did someone did it (sent his/her passport) to the visa office back home and succeed?

yeah some ppl did it but even if the embassy advices u to mail it, as bu ayaan said, cbsa might hold ur passport at the border for indefinite period of time....but sending it to an embassy is different than sending it to a person, so maybe they r not that strict (u could ask the cbsa office too)... u need to check with the courier also, some like dhl could just say no from the beginning...
but u think too far ;) first submit ur application then make sure when u come to Ca as a visitor u have plenty of proofs that u actually intent to return and u just visit, plenty of proofs of ties with ur home country (to make sure u will b allowed to enter) - there r a lot of threads with this subject, lots to read and take note ;)

but the thing is that in the border they will know I have PR application in process... which means I intend moving to Canada in the end.. doesn't it?

i don't know....how will they know? they just see a package with a passport inside....::)

Even if they know that you have a PR in process. Sending passport through courier or a third party is considered illegal. Yes there are ways people get their passport through like sending with friends or family but if caught they could be charged!!

I meant when I come as a visitor on the port of entry the officer will know I have PR app in process... and in the sane time I have to prove that I intend to go back to my country , have storng connections etc... a bit of contrast I would say...
I did not mean they will know the passport inside the package have PR on process... :)

yeah it is contrast and yes they will see - it's actually recommended that the sponsor is with u, u have the sponsor approval and u show them the letter, u have a return ticket and many other things which show u still have ties to ur home country (e.g. job, car, business, lease, bank accounts, etc)...many things abt immigration don't follow the every day logic....this contrast is actually called dual intent: u want to visit and stay with ur partner but in the same time u have the intention of staying permanently as soon as the PR is granted...what u need to do is to prove that u just visit, u won't overstay and u r not moving at that point

I will share my experirnce but we do not need a visa so it will just be in few months time when my common-law partner will cross the border and join me in Canada...

Good luck to you :)

Why is mailing your passport illegal?! How else can you get it to the visa office?!

jojojojo so ups yes you can go as a visitor jejeje
take care and Good Luck

I guess that if you cant send the passport you should go back to your country and get it... but for me, the main concern is not sending it (I'm sure that would be fine), the main concern is whether my partner should cross the border with this passport (that includes the PR visa) or not...

Mailing some countries' passports internationally is illegal, not mailing it within the country. For example, I know that for India and Jamaica it is illegal to mail the passport internationally.
