My friend's an international student from Malaysia and they'd like some advice on their study permit application and processing. Please, help!
Here's their story:
Hi, I applied for a Canadian study permit from Malaysia on the 13th of November 2020 and was asked to submit an additional document later on in December (a police certificate). I applied for the police certificate and submitted it to the IRCC upon receiving it, on the 22nd of February 2021.
They sent me a confirmation email 2 days later, acknowledging that they've received my document.
It's been about 6 weeks now since my last message from them, and I'm a little concerned as to what is happening with my application. I've completed and submitted everything else, including my medicals and biometrics.
My post-graduate course is starting in May, and since I've it got about 3-4 more weeks, I'm a little worried about receiving my permit before that. The IRCC website mentioned that they are taking an average of 9 weeks to process study permit applications from Malaysia now. It's been about 20 weeks since I submitted my full application and 6 weeks since I submitted the additional document requested.
May I have some advice on this matter, please? Thank you very much.
