Hi guys! I am planning to further my education to enhance my CRS points, but am confused by the ECA requirement. Would be grateful for your advice and suggestion!

By way of background, I am a degree holder (awarded by a recognised institution) and have been working in a skill level B job for almost 2 years. With a relative low CRS score, I have started looking into different courses offered by local institutions to earn the '2 or more certificate/diploma' bonus points. I am almost certain that my 4-year degree would be recognised by ECA. However, after doing some research online, it seems that it is impossible to pre-verify if a particular certificate/diploma is recognised, and hence I'm kind of stuck - it would be a waste of money and time if at the end the course I have taken is not recognised.

May I know, for the additional certificate/diploma I'm planning to take:
- is full-time education a must? or does a part-time diploma also work?
- what is the length requirement? 1 year/2 year or above?
- do learning hours matter?
- do credits matter?
- do the number of semesters matter?

The following link is one of the programmes I am considering: https://hkuspace.hku.hk/prog/postgrad-dip-in-info-technology-part-time-mode

Would be much grateful for your thoughts and comments!

Credits & academic course per semester are crucial
Years of the course & recognition matters
In most cases a full time course favors the ECA

Even if the ECA via any agencies provides the candidates with evaluation that satisfies them, it is the IRCC's eligibility check that finally decides. There were may cases where the application was rejected because of the education assessment were denied by IRCC which were evaluated by ECA

Many thanks for your reply. In this case shall I seek advice from both agencies like WES and IRCC? I know that they probably won't give me a definite answer but at least I could know what to expect / what not to take.

you trolling or kidding?
you expect WES & IRCC to advise you to take a course to enhance your CRS so you can apply for Express Entry?

LOL not for what to take but I would expect there should be more information given for the criteria they are using to judge. As you have said, IRCC could easily invalidate the report from authorised agencies, it would answer a lot of the questions most applicants hold if they can at least tell us what not to do / what is not recognised, e.g. part-time courses or programmes under one year are generally not recognised.

They probably would just tell me to go through the assessment first but I think sending some emails doesn't really hurt, right?
