English proficiency enquiry

Good day. Please as a prospective international student, can I submit an official statement of certified Proof of English Proficiency from my local university in Nigeria along with my application? Will this suffice as a substitute for the IELTS test? Think I should also add that I took the IELTS test in March 2020 and had a band score of 8.0, however it was in the General category.

IELTS and other tests not sure which ones are the only ones IRCC needs, I think. And, I could be wrong; the local university can't count.

These are the recognized languages by the Canadian Government:

• English
  • CELPIP: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program
    • you must take the CELPIP-General test
    • we don’t accept the General-LS test for Express Entry
  • IELTS: International English Language Testing System
    • you must take the General Training option
    • we don’t accept the Academic option for Express Entry
• French
  • TEF Canada: Test d’évaluation de français, including:
    • compréhension de l’écrit
    • compréhension de l’oral
    • expression écrite
    • expression orale

But if you apply with a college or university, they'll accept other tests such as TOEFL, Cambridge, or even certificates from other English schools in Canada. You must check your specific college or university. In my case, I took the TOEFL. I highly doubt they'll accept a certificate from a foreign university.
