Hi Ssrs09, 60% of the people in Canada have a degree or diploma. Therefore, you are entering an environment where engineers and Canadian technologists dominate. Hence, for a good job you would have to be a Certified Professional Engineer or for a bit less a 3 year Technologist.
Engineering in Canada is a regulated Profession hence you must certified by the Engineering Association for your province. This is NOT a quick process and takes 2-3 years. I really don't know why your advisor is recommending a visit visa; what is 4-5 business days supposed to do for you. Canadian employers trash your resume unless you have fully immigrated and have a valid SIN card.
Now, you can go into a company after/if you immigrate with no academics and pure experience, but you will be up against people who may represent a better value.
You can start the paper part of the process before you immigrate. Contact:
