Why dont we say color of one's skin matters.
Gosh!! And I thought i am running away from this.

I read the link of cic to get PEng...
And it does mention that the association will not only assess our education, will also take an exam...and see minimum 1 year canadian experience before giving license.
Till this we can work under other PEng...

Damn! Thats sound opposite of easy.

Colour of skin always mattered past, present and future. Its an unwritten rule otherwise life would be just black and white without any colour...no pun intended ;)

I agree with you here. the color of your skin does matter in Canada, further more having color on your skin you are considered a minority in Canada and being a minority that is a bonus and you actually stand a better chance in getting a job.

I can see how being a minority in Canada is a bonus if one is fleeing their country because of persecution. I cant see how being a minority in Canada is a bonus in terms of getting a job. I see brown doctors driving cabs and black engineers doing security guard jobs. Although I have yet to meet a white doctor driving a cab or white engineer working as security guard. Please let me know if you do find this pink elephant anomaly. I'd love to visit them and say "hi"

Of course. That is the whole point, to discourage non-Canadian candidates. As always if you are good and really work for it then you will be a PEng... but no, it is not easy for immigrants,

Some jobs yes... but this is tricky. Maybe you can get "a job" based on that minority and "being inclusive" façade, but if you want a wage as good as an immigrant from the UK, to get promoted as an immigrant from the US, or to be "part of the group" as an immigrant from New Zeland then forget about it.

Also even in minorities there are layers.... it is not the same to be a Canadian minority than to be a Native-American minority even though they are practically the same.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, it is ok and I accept it (I have been discriminated due to my ethnicity). The day I am not ok with it I'll go back home :)

Well if you did not know there are organizations that employ people based on their culture because they have rules and regulations to have a mixed culture environments as their are alot of private organizations that are predominantly white.

Maybe its different were I work, because I work for the Government but my working environment is equally mixed.[quote author=Jalex23link=topic=231515.msg3438511#msg3438511 date=1408467213]

People have to remember that everyone in Canada are immigrants even the white Canadian is also a immigrant. So don't feel discouraged by anyones comments or if they refer to you as a immigrant because they are also a immigrant aswell
