Hi,

I'm an Engineer and I want to apply for FSW ;D. I found that the chance to apply as a technologist is much better than as an Engineer. ::)
as the 2133 is 452 while the technologist is still 71. :'(
Is there any problem or rejection from CIC if I applied as a Technologist? ::)

If the duties you have performed in your present and/or past occupations match the required duties in the NOC for which you wish to apply, I see no reason why there would be a problem.

Good luck !

Dear nishesh3003,

Thanks for your fast reply :)

As you know, most of our job duties are matched, the difference is the managerial in the Engineering Duties. while the Technologist is an assistant. but most of the time both are doing the same work from different sides.

I don't know if CIC could see this from the our view angle, or they see this as a work around to pass the CAP.
I don't know and that why I'm asking.

Any HELP?

CIC has only ONE Angle - Duties listed under the NOC corresponding to the duties listed in the applicants LOR.

They are not there to judge, they are there to evaluate. Unless off-course you try to pass off the same occupation under multiple NOCs, which you clearly are not.

Dear theagalingo and Nitesh,

I agree with Nitesh, CIC justifies only the JOb Description described a Technologist.OR 2232- Mechanical Engineering Technologist (I guess,as I have also applied under the same JD being a Mechanical Engineer)
atleast 70% of the JD should match with the one you are submitting. But keep in Dont't use the same word/ sentences described for NOC-Technologist, instead just use their language and take the ley words and draft your own responsibilities, I guess that would be fine.

In mycase, I selected NOC 2242-Mechanical Engineering Technologist being a Mechanical Engineer and submitted my application which reached CIC on 24Noc 2014.
CIC Concentrates and sees this in your Reference letter/s:
- JD mentioned is matching the NOC upto 70% or not.
- Duration of Service
- Working Hours per week and per month
- Your Salary (Gross OR with benefits and if you are unable to atatch your Pay Slips)
- Your Pay Slips (its optional yet Recommended)..

Do inform if you need more information or any such support..
Al the Best......

Guys please forgive, my NOC is 2232 and not 2242

Dear maakrose,

Thanks for your great information.

So this means that any engineer has a chance to apply for both engineer and technician. :o

For me I'll apply for 2241.

hi maakrose. i'm a mechanical enginner but i opted to apply for 2232 as per my job duties matches more with 2232.
my question is what did you write in IMM0008 Schedule 3 Item 12a Your Work Experience?
Did you write mechanical engineering technologists? or did you write your occupation from your work experience?
Thanks.

According to my own understanding, if you are a registered or chartered engineer at some institutions in your own countries, then it would be good to apply for engineer NOCs. If not then it will be safer to apply for technicians NOCs.

Me too I'm applying to technician position instead of engineer because it is not common to get chartered in my field of career in my country. The employers only concern whether you are able to get the job done instead of looking at your qualification. Very sad.

please explain the following two Employment requirements of (Noc 2146)

1.Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practise as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).

2.Engineers are eligible for registration following graduation from an accredited educational program, and after three or four years of supervised work experience in engineering and passing a professional practice examination.

Yes there are certain professions which have these types of pre-requisitie licensing before practicing. Without fullfilling these requirements , one is not allowed to practice these professions and it will be considered illegal.

Thanks for quick response.
Do I need this licences?
As I am a mechanical engineer by qualification however I have 8 years of experience in Aerospace design field.
Last year I applied for ICT Work permit under Mechanical engineer Technologist (Noc 2232) and it got rejected stating following reason:

"you have not demonstrated that you come within the exceptions under section 186 of the regulation exempting you from the requirement to obtain a
work permit or that your employment in Canada comes within the exceptions to section 203 of the regulations. as a result, your offer of employment must
be the subject of economic effect determination before a work permit can be issued to you. your employer in Canada should contact the local officer department
of the human resources and skills development Canada to begin in this process."

Now again I want to apply, this time I am applying as aerospace engineer, NOC 2146

Is it ok to change job title from Mechanical engineer Technologist (Noc 2232) to Aerospace engineer (Noc 2146)?

Thank you
