EMPP participants are considered economic immigrants or refugees - can they visit Homeland and its Impact on PR Status?

Hello,
I am seeking clarification regarding travel rules for individuals who immigrated to Canada through the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP). Since EMPP applicants are granted permanent resident status upon arrival in Canada and are classified as economic immigrants rather than refugees, does this mean they can visit their home country without jeopardizing their status in Canada?

I understand that refugees who are resettled in Canada are generally advised not to travel to their country of origin, as it could result in their refugee status being reviewed or revoked. However, since EMPP immigrants are economic immigrants, would traveling to their homeland impact their PR status in any way?

Additionally, are there any legal or practical considerations (e.g., issues at Canadian borders or residency obligations) that I should be aware of before planning such travel?

I’d appreciate any insights from those with experience or knowledge of the EMPP program or Canadian immigration laws.

Thank you in advance for your help!
