Are you literally between jobs (have another one lined up)? Then put "other" (I think that is an option, but I can't quite remember, if not just check employed and explain) and write just that, you are between jobs and write when your new job will start. If "between jobs" is slang for unemployed and no job lined up, are you receiving unemployment? If not just put "unemployed" then explain your job search or why you aren't employed.

Im in a trade union...have applied for unemployment and hopefully will be employed within a week or 2 at the most..(its always like this,jobs finish and new ones start up)....of course I want to send application asap.Should I check "other" and write an explanation and submit with my tax assessment proof of income for last 2 years?

Yep, just tell the exact truth of what is happening, just explain its completely normal to start and stop jobs etc.
