I'm Canadian, trying to sponser my Swedish common-law boyfriend. I have been working for cash for the past few years, ''under the table'' so to speak. I realize that I probably cannot include this in the ''Sponser Questionnaire''. What should I do? Any advice? Comments? Similar situations that have worked out previously?

Thanks so much!

i am not sure if you should include it. but you don't have to meet any income requirement - you only need to have a plan on how you will support yourself from now on, and how you plan to do that to avoid going on welfare...

my partner (canadian) has been approved even if he has been a student for the last 3 years and barely made any money(apart from the 5 months he worked summers) - make a plan on how you will provide for you and your partner, include letters for friends and family that will support you, offer you free accomodation etc if possible, and you shoudl be fine.

Good luck,
Sweden

Thank you so much for your reply, that gives me a lot of encouragement! We plan on staying with my parents until we find jobs, and they are willing to supply us with signed letters to that arrangement, etc. I really do hope it's going to be enough.

Have you guys recieved your approval yet? Or is it pending? And also, do you know if for the duration of the Sponsorship Pending, is he allowed to stay in Canada with me?

He can only visit you during the duration of the application process, Sweden is a visa exempt country so he just comes as a visitor and after 6 months (if that is what he is given at POE) he can apply for an extension. If he is already in Canada do not let his status lapse, tho he doesn't need status during the application process he should have it as it is against the law to live in Canada without status quite the oxy-moron eh?

We are still in Sweden getting all the info for the application ready so that we can apply at the beginning of March. (Because as common law we technically have the one year livign together as of March 1st 2013, so I'm waiting to apply then.) We are putting together some photos, some testimonials from both our families (signed etc), some e-mails.

My visa expires in Sweden at the end of March, at which time both him and I are going to leave to Toronto to live with my parents until we can get work and a place of our own. I'm 23 and he is 27.

He has been in Canada for three years. One year of study, and 2 years on work permits. Sadly he cannot apply for the Canadian Experience class because he is missing 6 months out of the 2 year full-time work requirement.

A friend of mine just sent in his resume to his company and they asked him for an interview, but we can't leave Sweden now for it, it would not be worth it. But regardless, I'm wondering if when we get to Canada, while the application is still pending, can he get some kind of Work Permit again? Even though he's used up both of his workign holiday visa's in Canada already?

Thank you all again so much for the help. I would be so so lost with you.
