Hi guys,

during my employment over 2 years, my salary changed twice. My employment letter that I will submit states only the most recent salary.
I will attach the employment contracts that show all the past salaries, but should I also amend the letter to show all the salary changes?

Any inputs appreciated!!

The letter should include all the position / promotion held at particular company.

If you have different salary that has to be on the letter along with period for each salary.

For Letter of Employment, you only need to state the most current salary, job title, work hours, and start date.

You can show them your salary and job duties changes in the Offer of Employment, just attach all contracts you have with the company since starting date.

Hi,
thanks for reply!

is that how you submitted your application?

Been bugging my boss too much with this letter, so I don't want another hassle if it's not necessary..

That's how my HR department did and advised me, they did the same for two other employees who also went through with EE and got their PRs.

I've got 5 previous employers who are relevant to my PR application as the jobs are all NOCs.

3 haven't got back to me and 2 have come back to say HR will deal with it but we can't guarantee they will type out your duties, most likely will just be a confirmation of job title, salary, dates. One of the companies is very small so doesn't have HR.

If I can only get bare bones references will this suffice? I am in Canada now and destroyed old employment contracts. I guess I can dig around in emails for some form of confirmation letter with duties.

Any advice?

1 - If they refuse to provide duties and responsibilities you can get a notarized declaration of a former manager or colleague who can state your duties.

2 - Don't destroy your contracts :/

I disagree on this one. It's incorrect statement.

This is directly taken from CIC.

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and

Hi,

I was thinking that if I had different positions, of course the salary should be specified for each position. but if I held only one position, but my salary changed during the period of employment, as long as my employment contract can show the changes, it would not be necessary to state all the salary changes in the letter directly?...

This is the requirement for Employment Records, not Letter of Employment.

In the eAPR, we have three documents that need to be provided by the employer:

  • Offer of Employment (aka Job Offers): include all your contracts
  • Employment Records: official letter from the company with requirements like you posted above. I also attached T4s and Notice of Assessment with it (if your are CEC inland)
  • Letter of Employment (aka certification of employment) of : simple official letter from the company to confirm your current position, working hours, job title, annual income and start date with the company

This is how my company's HR dept has been doing since the start of Express Entry, and we haven't had any issue so far.

Hi Alexios,

Thanks!

on another note, would only T4 (without NOA) suffice as well? I do have NOA from my CRA online account, but I am worried it's not the official paper copy mailed out from CRA.

I believe OP here is trying to specify for Employment Records only that's I posted detailed requirement.
