Hi guys!

As always, any advice would be extremely appreciated:)

I live and work in Russia. We already have a bunch of our companies under international Western sanctions.

If, for example, I work for such company, is it gonna be a problem when approving my work experience for Express Entry?

I know Iranians are having the same situation. Hope somebody successfully went through this already;)

Working for such a company will certainly make you eligible for more checks.

But this doesn't disqualify you outright.

You can be worried only if you were engaged in some nasty stuff as part of your job in that company.

Good luck!

Maybe you need to discuss with an immigration lawyer given this scenario is probably beyond anyone’s ameteur knowledge on this forum and you would need to be very lucky to find either a Russian or Iranian forum member. Not impossible but odds not high. Personally I cannot see who you work for being a deal breaker versus your qualifications and experience.

Hey, comrade. As Bs65 mentioned above you need to contact an immigration lawyer cause CIC Canada might have some problems with checking your work experience.
Where exactly do you work, mate?

Thanks for the suggestions comrades:D!

I work for a bank. According to the media, there is a big chance that in the coming few months sanctions will be imposed.

Now waiting for ECA and hoping to be selected in August.

I'm not personally involved in operations connected to sanctions. But I'm not sure whether or not an immigration officer could check it in practice.

Anyway it's good that such type of employer isn't automatically disqualified under any written rules I know about.
