Employer refuses to put my job duties on the letter

Hello,

I am really frustrated and looking for some guidance here :( I reached to the HR of the company I am currently employed in. They said they usually don't include roles and responsibilities and that this is a special request.

Then, they generated a letter without the job roles. When I asked them, the person started grilling me about what this is for and I am not being open/honest. He asked me to go through my supervisor.

I am nervous about this whole thing. When I told him this is for a skill assessment for visa/immigration, he asked me if I was trying to make them help me immigrate. I didn't know what to say.

Is it wrong of me to be asking for this (considering this is for immigration)? The way he sounded was as if I am making a mistake. I don't want to go to my supervisor, and tell him the whole story if nothing is going to come of it, and I end up not getting the letter. Then the whole world will know I am looking to immigrate.

How do I deal with this? I am sure people here have had similar experiences before..

Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

This is common in big corporates. What you can do is
1. Get the job letter from HR and roles and responsibility letter from your manager/ supervisor (preferably on company letter head or emailed from the company email).

Usually HR will have some kind of template for letter of employment, which will only have a summary of your roles and responsibilities. That's usually the case. However, tell them the reason that you requested this letter is just for a supporting document for EE(or OINP?). Tell them if they refuse to put details of your responsibilities in the letter, you will likely to be rejected because of this. We've seen too many examples on this forum already, unfortunately.

It is totally not your fault to request. It is your right(I think). Just explain the whole situation with your boss and HR and I think they can understand. That is what I did.

Good luck.
