You may be right to some extent - I had some other things working for me -
1. I have a letter from my employer only that it was not detailed enough.
2. I work with a multinational and they could easily verify my claim
3. My Job title is somewaht universal and my letter from the employer stated that fact
4. I had documentation to list my previous job title and my transition into the new role
5. I also have academic qualifications that could show that I am qualified for such roles

FYI - I applied under FSW2013 and I got my PER.

OP, I made the list above so that you can see the reasoning behind what I did and probably identify gaps that you may need to fill if you want to take a similar step.
