They can call or in some cases if they have doubt can visit as well. They will call the person who signed your reference letter. Enquire about Name, designation and job duties. As from forum members when your e-cas turns into **in process** they will call with in one week. Now sometimes they can call the applicant, if they have doubt. But they do not verify on call every applicant, visa officer has the way with these things.

Hi Canada1234,
If they are calling the person who signed your letter, then it is going to be a problem for me since i left the job since 2006. I am now in a different country completely.

The person who also signed my letter has been promoted to another post and he does not still work in that office and he has been replaced by a new person.

!). If they call and the new person does not know me what will become of the verification? Or he might take time to go to the files to check the name.

Visa officers are well aware of these typa situations.
They know applicants could move from one job to another, many people doing their own biz who used to be a paid employee in past.

Your provided papers reflect 99% of your experiences. Verification is done randomly and only to maintain a procedure. If the provided papers creates doubt on IO's mind then he could always call or rarely with a site visit and verify.

I was thinking of also sending to them all visa pages of my work permit in all the companies i worked.


What do you think about this option.

I still have all t he visa pages with me.

I can send it to them soon if that is ok.

Hi Jnathan,
I mean the work permit that was given to me, when i was offered the job. It was in another country, i mean out of my country of origin. So i was issued a work permit.

If you Employer reference letter verabage is very similar to that of job duties that your mentioned in application then most probably they will call. This trend is what I observed for 3-4 cases of my friends that I had been closely watching.

This is what happened with my friend's case (latest) in March '10 -
1. The person who signed the reference letter received call from a third-party. He could make out from the voice mail that was left.
2. The third-party immediately called to other number that was mentioned on the footer of the reference letter. Typically all letterheads have standard footer.
3. This number was board number of the office and receptionist guided it to HR
4. HR was able to confirm only validity of employment but did not confirm the job duties
5. The person who signed reference letter called back the verification agency and confirmed the details. Questions were - Date of employment, current role, salary, location, date of last promotion, and confirmation that you are the "REAL" supervisor.

Cancer24: I thought the duties should be same as in the employer reference letter and the application. I understand if these duties should not be same or similar to the NOC description. But since after 26/6 we are supposed to send a copy of the reference letter, we should put the excat same duties on the application as given in the letter?

1) Will CIO call employers for every candidate?
2) Do they inform employers that the candidate has applied for PR?

What happened to your friend's case then?
Coz sometimes the Reference Letter is given by your supervisor, and not all HR guys are aware of the duties & responsibilities in detail (like it happened in ur friend's case)

Dear Inexperienced,
CIO doesn't call anyone. Once the file is accepted & tranferred to Visa Office, in your case (India), the verifications will be done locally (at New Delhi VO)
They dont inform, they have their own way. But if in doubt, they do everything, even physical visits.

How did u get ur Ref. Letter without informing your employer? From your Senior/Supervisor? (that is also valid though)

I hope you did not send a 'copy' of the Ref. Letter. Only the Certified True copy of the Appoinment/Offer-letter that is to be sent.

I know there is a lot of confusion. And in that confusion I sent the copy and not the original. I read a lot of posts and finally decided to send the notarized photocopies. I sort of believed that cause of the format column on section 12 of the checklist. And then again, we will need to submit original documents (PCC and experience) to local VO. So in the interest of time I decided to send notarized copies. Fingers corssed

Well as far as getting the reference letter is concerned. HR policy states that they will not give it for any purpose other than admission for higher education. I said fine I want to go for further studies and give me a letter addressed to a university in canada .. thats the best I could do,

Also, Canada121, my application has been received by CIC and signed by some 'ROBAR'. I have not posted on the other 26/6 post cause first I want to confrim the address it has reached. Fingers doublecrosses...

And congrats that ur package also reached on time.
