Employee Reference Letter

Hi All,

I am preparing to file for FSW 2014 program. This is regarding the Employee Reference letter which is required as per CIC checklist.

Could you help and advise me what should I do, if my employer has refused to give me any reference letter stating my job responsibilities (as a DBA), salary and no. of hours worked ?

I can arrange a official mail from my superiors stating the above requirements and an affidavit from my side. Also I have all the documents such as offer letter, pay slips, increment letter (this shows position which my company has offered me - Systems Engineer, not DBA). Will all these documents be sufficient to pass the verification.

Lastly, the only way I can think of is to fake the letter head. I can get it signed by one of my senior colleague. But, I am bit concerned on how CIC verifies this kind of thing. If they contact the signing authority, I am fine with it. But if they go directly to company headquarters or someone else, it can be a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

From what I have learned on this forum and from my consultant, I will try to get an official mail from my seniors stating all of my duties and will enclose an affidavit to support my claim. Apart from this, I am also gathering other documents such as Increment letter, appraisal letter, appointment letter, offer letter, confirmation letter. I think this should help. If you come to know of any update on this, please do share.

Just to make sure i understand you correctly:-
1.>The official mail that your superior will send to you will be on your offical email id and then u will take a print out of the same? Is that right
2.>And the affidavit you will get done ( i would assume on a stamp paper ) will say that you have not been able to get the employment letter and u will mention your duties in that affidavit correct,
3.>and u will attach the affidavit , the mail sent to you by your colleague and all the other paper work such as salary slips, welcome letter etc etc

I am also planning to do the same as well. I dont understand whats there problem?

Where are you from buddy?

Please find my response below -

Just to make sure i understand you correctly:-
1.>The official mail that your superior will send to you will be on your offical email id and then u will take a print out of the same? Is that right
Reply : Yes, that's correct.

2.>And the affidavit you will get done ( i would assume on a stamp paper ) will say that you have not been able to get the employment letter and u will mention your duties in that affidavit correct,
Reply : Affidavit will have declaration that whatever information, I am providing is true. (Thinking of adding cover letter to explain the situation)

3.>and u will attach the affidavit , the mail sent to you by your colleague and all the other paper work such as salary slips, welcome letter etc etc
Reply : Yes, that's what I can think as of now.

I am also planning to do the same as well. I dont understand whats there problem?
Reply : I am just concerned, if CIC entertains this kind of documentation or they strictly need duties and working hours written on company's letterhead.

Where are you from buddy?
Reply : I am from Hyderabad. Where are you from ?

Please share, if you can come up with some updates/more correct way to fulfill this requirement.

I am also in the same boat buddy... I was also thinking of the same (fake letter head). I have arranged official email from my supervisor which mentions my duties. Secondly i will provide my IT certification to CIC which will help them understand by roles and to go with it, i will be providing my appointment letter, yearly appraisal letter and pay slips.

Anyone have new ideas?? I am from mumbai.

I dont think you should fake anything. Because if you are caught you will be in more trouble and might be banned from applying ever again. Not worth the risk.

I think you should write a covering letter explaning the reason why u are unable to get the role/duties u have performed on letter head

I think the following should be done in our case:
------------------------------------------------------

a> get a letter on company letter head from the HR stating your name, designation, duration with the company, how many hours u work in a weeks time. The letterhead should have the name of the company, address, tel phone and fax numbers. Also email address of the company........Also ask the HR to mention in that very same letter " due to internal policies" we are not able to provide job duties. Now atleast you have something on a company letterhead which states that the company can not issue the duties performed

b>now ask your colleague to send an email from his offical email id to yours, saying that u have been working here for ----years, and u are working as a ------ + also he can mention the duties performed by you. This email should have your colleagues contact number and his email address. take a print out of this mail

c>Now get an affidavit made stating that you have been working with this company since------, as a --------. Also mention that you have not been able to get job duties from your company however you have a letter stating that the HR can not write the duties (in point a). In this affidavit you cna also mention some of your duties and then sign it.

So you should have a COVERING LETTER (EXPLANING SITUATION AND WHAT YOU ARE INCLUDIG TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM) + AFFIDAVIT + LETTER THAT HR HAD GIVEN IN POINT A + EMAIL THAT WAS SENT BY YOUR COLLEAGUE WITH HIS CONTACT NUMBER AND DETAILS + YOUR JOINING LETTER, INCREMENT LETTER,SALARYSLIP OR TAX SLIPS

I am not an expert, but i think I would have done this

Hey Guys,

Just found the affidavit sample format on some other thread regarding "experience letter" -

Date:

SOLEMN AFFIRMATION

I the undersigned, (principal applicant), residing at ___________________________________, hereby solemnly affirm that from (date) until (date) I was employed by (company name) as (job title).

I worked (number) hours per week and was paid (salary) (weekly, monthly, yearly).

My main duties consisted of (main duties).

Main Duty 1
Main Duty 2
Main Duty 3
Main Duty 4
and so on and so forth.

I am unable to obtain a letter with the job description from my employer because the HR department doesn't provide any such letter with the job duties mentioned on it. The only thing they provide with is an experience letter with the designation and the tenure of the employment mentioned on it, that too at the time of relieving. I have that letter and I shall enclose the notarized copy of the same.

So I was able to get a letter from my Manager describing my job duties, with his signature over the company logo. Also, on the letter, he has his designation and the address of the company printed clearly. So I am attaching

a) The letter from my Manager describing bu job duties, with his signature and the company logo.
b) Employment Verification from the company on the letter head without the salary and job description.
c) My Salary Slips

Do you guys think it is okay?
