I would like to know how to withdraw (Cancel)visa application; my parents sent in their application on June 16th, 2012, still have not heard anything from the CPP-Ottawa yet. Because my parents will return to China on schedule(their return tickets have been purchased already, the date of tickets are on July 18th, 2012), we really need the passports back asap. Would anyone please let us know which is the best way for us to get the passports back quickly? their return back home to China date is quickly approaching. They would like to withdraw applciation.

The following address is that we sent the passport to:
CPP – Ottawa
P. O. Box 9640
Ottawa, ON, K1A 0C1

Thanks!

Email: CPP-CTP-OTTAWA-TRV-VRT@cic.gc.ca

I did a google for "CPP Ottawa fax" and got the information above. I suggest you send a fax with your urgent message. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

hi, i have the same problem. I applied for my visa last feb 18 and still didn't get it. my flight going home will be on the 17 of march and so i emailed cpp-ottawa to withdraw my application and send back my passport asap. they just replied today and said that it is for review and that they cannot estimate the processing time of my application. i didnt understand whether it is for review to process my visa or to cancel it..

were u able to get the passports in time? how long until they returned them? i really need it asap and so i will fax them again today.

thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone,

I have the same problem - Does anyone here got success with withdraw application? The passport was sent to CPP Ottawa but we need it urgently to travel out of Canada?

There is no information in any website and the immigration customer care does not know how to help. We are thinking to go to Ottawa to try to get the passport.

Any information is welcome.

Thanks
Pedro.

Thanks for the link I have found that - I think I was not cleat what I mean is that there is no information if someone has successfully withdraw an application and received passport back on time. All people are asking the same question but I did not see if anyone has resolved the problem on time.

Well that is expected, few people come back once their problem is solved.

If you see there is no "state your reason" when you are withdrawing the application. It is assumed you simply don't longer want it, so they simply take it off a queue and put it in another. CIC won't assume that you "need your passport" as they are not asking. So there is not a single reason to think, or expect that CIC will expedite your withdrawal for you to make a hard date. It is stated all over CIC website that it is your responsibility to apply with proper time expecting that delays might happen.

Hope you get your passports soon.

I would like to provide update that after several emails, some fax sent and only 1 reply with wrong information from CPC Ottawa they sent back the passport with the visa.

** I would like to highlight that they NEVER informed they have sent it back - I only knew because I was checking the tracking number every hour. Until now - almost 24hs after they have not responded e-mails or closed the process in their website.

My conclusion of this is that they are VERY disorganized and do not communicate properly with the customers. It's very frustrating the terrible customer service. Especially considering it's in Canada - other locations, other country consulates has a clear process of withdraw or speed up a process.

My recommendation to you is the opposite of what they recommend - try ALL means of communication with them until you get someones attention.

It worked for me - I hope never more in life need any service from them.

CIC never ever sends any communication regarding sending the passport back. The only way to know is through checking the tracking number sent in the return envelope.

Please don't flood CIC with uneeded emails, calls or other attempts to get specialized answers. Let them work.

I let them work until the last minute - once the travel was at risk and it started causing me several problems I have to follow-up - I have friend that is waiting for 6 weeks with no answer - I know it differ from the website instruction however that was what the lady from CIC call centre told me when I complained they do not respond emails - they said keep following-up and send a fax. Anyways it worked.

Just FYI - 2 days after we receive the passport with the TRV VISA someone (maybe same person from before) send an email saying they did not receive the passport yet. This visa office in Ottawa is the WORSE and most disorganized CIC that I ever seen.
