Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello guys, I hope somebody can help me out here.

I'm reading for a while here already since I plan to apply for PR.
Yesterday I realized that I might be eligible for the CEC since the occupation I work in right now is considered Skilled Work (I didn't know that before).
The problem is now that I would need another job (Research Assistant NOC 4012) to count towards my experience to make it to the 12 months.

I worked from beginning May to End of August as a Research Assistant at an university with an open work permit. I did basically all what the NOC states for this job title (and wrote a paper). I know that you can't count any work while being a full time student towards your work experience.
At the time I was NOT a student in Canada but still enrolled in my home University in Germany but didn't attend any classes.

Then I started working as a Translator (my job title would be more like Localizer or revisor translation) NOC 5125 in the middle of February. Therefore to this date over 8 months there (and still continuing to do so).

First of all: this should be enough for the 12 months experience right? And it doesn't matter that the jobs are completely different?
I always wonder under which cap you are counted if you list several different occupations...

I'm in the process of getting the paperwork from my 2 employers to prove the work experience. Also English tedts could be done on the 29th of november. I know this is a super short time frame but I would have to get in the CEC before the new Express Entry starts.
And there will be the last question: does it even makes sense still to apply or is the cap already reached? The number I found still suggests that there are a bunch left.

Thanks so much guys!
This is the one and only valuable resource out there (almost)!!

What kind of work permit? PGWP? If so, then the experience should count, as long as the university considered you to be an employee, not a student.

You need a full calendar year (12 months/52 weeks) of experience. I only count February to present, so based on what you wrote, it does not look like you meet the one year requirement.

And it doesn't matter that the jobs are completely different? No.

For any specific experience to count, the NOC must still be open. So - all of them. But RA would likely be skill level A, as is Translator, so they are not subject to the NOC-specific caps for skill level B occupations. So you only need to worry about the overall cap - or not, I don't think it will be a problem, but it's hard to say how many applications are in the cue.

Thanks for the prompt reply! (Can I vote peoples posts 'up' somehow in this Forum?)

Yes I screwed the date thing.
May 1st to August 31st of 2013: Open Work Permit International Experience' Work and Holiday class. Employed by the University here not a student.

February 11th to November 21st: Until April with the same permit as above, then on implied status until the closed work permit for the translating job arrived in May.

I just counted the weeks and with 2 weeks of vacation subtracted I still am over 52 weeks. All over 35 hours a week, more like 40 hours a week.

Thanks again, you're an invaluable help!

One last thing:

I wrote a paper during the time I was working there that I used as a Thesis at my home university to complete my studies, my supervisor asked me to exclude all the time I was working on that from the hours accumulated there.
Most of the time I was working for his projects doing field work and data analysis but also some time just on my stuff.

Is this necessary? Since I was just paid 8 hours a day by the University to do whatever work they had, and if there was nothing to do worked on my little project, this is impossible to divide. Also I collected data for my project that was used by me but also belongs to the university.
What I could do easily is say I worked 4 days a week for the university and 1 day for my project, as well as the last month only for my project.

But in general I thought this isn't even necessary since the University paid me to do these kind of things and considered my an employee not a student.
The CEC criteria state that experience gained in a Co-Op or internship do not count. But does count in general or when you're enrolled in a canadian institution?

Thanks again for clarification!

Well... Ahem. It all depends on your Letter of Employment. Assuming you're not going to say, "Hey boss, I worked on my project even though you told me not to, would you be sure to put that in my letter of employment?" I would say don't worry about it.

That's a big "I don't know." I believe the intent is to exclude work experience while in studying in Canada on a study permit. But I can't be 100% sure.

Hello and good time,
I need some advice,
I am about to apply for CEC, I have been working on NOC 4012, (Research Assistant, University), on PGWP for a couple of months, I asked the university HR to give me a reference letter to verify my employment, They gave me a letter with all CEC required elements, however, duties and responsibilities are a little unsatisfactory for me, they only mentioned, according to my contract
- Research on "power system virtualization"

I had some problem with my supervisor and he refused to cooperate and give more detail on my duties.
I wonder if the aforementioned one-item duty is sufficient to apply for CEC. ( or VO would be satisfied with this)

For supporting document, I will send contract, paystub, as well as T4 and NOA.
