Hey everyone!
I have a question here. When you apply, there is the question about calculating your physical presence and then there is the question about if you held a travel document during your 5 yr eligibility-I came here as a minor as a landed immigrant and only have this record of landing document. For context, a landed immigrant document is an old school version of a pr card. As well, you can't own a passport with a landed immigrant document (at least, that's what the document says) for a period of time. Nonetheless, I never travelled out of the country and never applied for a passport; I put that in my application and it got sent back to me twice asking me to fill out the section about holding a travel document during my eligibility period. So I assumed that a record of landing or landed immigrant document is not a travel document..but if so, why return the application? My question is, is any kind of document that allowed a person to arrive in the country considered a travel document? Sorry for the length, just any help would be appreciated!

COPR / landing paper is not a travel document. Passport is the main travel document. Other travel documents could be a refugee travel document.

If you have never had a travel document, mention it in response to question 14 of cit0002 form (answer NO to this question and provide a one liner explanation in the box) and attach a detailed letter of explanation. As mentioned by scylla above, COPR/landing papers/PR card are not considered as travel documents.

Just a side note: Your parents probably travelled to Canada on a passport/travel document. If you didn't have a separate passport, it is likely that you were listed as dependant child on their passports. In this case, if the validity period of their passports fall within your citizenship eligibility period, you may need to attach a copy of their passport(s) biopage/explanation page indicating you as their dependant child. It was possible until a few years ago to have children listed in their parents' passports. Nowadays, as per ICAO regulations, even a one day old child must get a separate passport to be able to travel.
