Eligibility Period?

Hi quick question, my eligibility period is basically 2013/04-2018/04. I entered Canada 2013/09 and have enough days based on that to be eligible to apply for citizenship.
However on the application they ask for addresses for the entire eligibility period which I assume includes the time before I came to Canada(2013/04-2013/09). So I’ve checked off that I’ve lived outside Canada and the message says to fill out the residence outside Canada form? This form doesn’t apply to me at all as I’ve never worked for the crown services and neither has my husband. I also don’t need them to count those 5 months before I landed as I have enough time here without them.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

The safe way to deal with it is to send that crown servant form and put non applicable pretty much everywhere.
The ultra safe way : do that and add a cover letter saying that this crowd servant thing doesn't apply to you.

Some reported about answering no and not having an issue, while at least one person answered yes and added a cover letter but without sending the form, and got his application rejected.

And pretty much all PR that didn't live in Canada before their landing have the issue. Tens of Thousands of people :D

Yes this is a very common question as this part is confusing. The correct way which is tried and tested is as follows :

- Print the CIT 0177 form and fill your name and DOB. Then write N/A on part A and B.

- Attach a cover letter stating that you never worked for crown services and the time you lived outside of Canada doesn't effect your eligibility.

That's it..you will be fine.

Just confirming what is written above. Fill out the form marking both sections as N/A. This is what I have been recommending for months, it is what I did myself and I received AOR.

The subject section is about applicant who lived outside Canada as Crown servant or spouse of Crown servant and second important point is living outside Canada after becoming PR.

I was also in the same boat; lived outside Canada during my eligibility period before becoming PR and I wasn't Crown servant or spouse of Crown servant, therefore I answered the question NO so didn't the form.

With reference to the above facts, answering question NO doesn't constitue an untruthful answer. Since question is confusing (although section is clearly about living outside as Crown servant or spouse of Crown servant), therefore attaching an explanation letter is considered a safe play.

I did the same and I am appearing in Citizenship Ceremony to take Oath at the end of April.

Hi,
i just applied for my citizenship last week. I started mentioning only from the time i became PR (though physical calculator says eligibility period is 2013-2018 but i became PR on march 01,2015). do you think they will return my forms, or i need to send an updated inquiry for/

@petal765 you can't send an "updated" inquiry if it's not already in the system and you got your AOR.
And yes, not giving your status for the complete 5 years period will most probably result in your application being returned, in a month or so maybe.
