Hi all,
I am of Indian origin and have lived in the United States most of my life. I have applied to migrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker program (but under my previous work experience in the financial industry). I am in my 30's and went back to school to study engineering.
I will be graduating this may with my BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. I just wanted to ask you guys what the job market for either electrical engineers or computer science people in Canada is like? I have applied here in the US and have got a couple of tentative offers in the hardware field.
My story is long and I have a work permit here in the US that gets regularly renewed every year, but I want to establish a permanent base and that is why I applied to Canada. That is why even though I have offers here, I'm more interested in what I can expect in Canada (especially for new graduates like me). Or is it better if I work here in the US and gain a couple years experience first?
Also, someone told me that Mechanical Engineers are in big demand in Canada and not electrical engineers or software people. Is this really true? I find it really hard to believe. I am planning on possibly doing a masters degree and am not sure if I should go into mechanical or stay in my current field electrical.
Thanks and you help is really appreciated!
