EI eligibility for parents in Canada

Hi,

My wife is a PR, working for a Canadian company and is currently pregnant. She will need to quit her job at in near future. Is she eligible for EI benefits from government?

Usually a person who is unemployed is entitled to about 9 months of unemployment insurance. However, mothers are only entitled for 17 weeks max as per Service Canada. Has anyone gone through this procedure?

Be careful how she does that. She needs to take maternity leave, not quit her job. If you quit your job, you aren't entitled to EI.
