Salam all,
I am wondering if there are any applicants from Egypt, we can discuss some of the issues related to Egypt in this thread?

Thanks

Masa2 el khier...
Are you in Egypt or the US? I am in the US, and am applying through the Alberta provincial nominee program, for the H1-B stream. Anyway, the pressing issue at this moment for me, is the feesh-w-tashbeeh :) I applied in June 1 for it. I got in on October 15, but the worst part is that it is stamped on June 19th! So, I can not use it! any ideas :) ?

Hi,

Neither .. nor :) I am actually in Canada. Your Egypt police clearance certificate should be still valid IF you have not been in Egypt since June.

In general, no matter how old a police clearance certificate from any country is, it is still valid as long as the one is no longer in that country. Therefore, they would not ask for an updated certificate for you, simply because there are NO updates! Just write a cover letter to clarify this in your application.

In my case, Buffalo accepted my 7-month old Egypt police clearance certificate since I've never been back to Egypt during that period.

Good luck..

Thanks! That would be great. Since my situation in the US is getting critical (my status will expire soon), I wanted to have an exhaustive approach to it, so that there would be no excuses. you know.

So, you're done with your PR? or it is still in process?

Not yet, I did my medicals 7 months ago, and now I am just waiting for passport request! Kinda tired of waiting, but hopefully I would hear the good news some time soon, in shaa allah.

Yeah, it is way too long! Anyway nothing could be done but wait. Buffalo is my visa office. Actually I would not be a provincial nominee without a sponsoring employer!

So, you are on a temporary work visa now in Canada? and why did you apply at the US, not in Canada?

I guess you are not so familiar with the overall system yet. I am not that expert either, but as far as I know, in-Canada applications are only for the renewal of temporary status in Canada and/or PR under family class (Spouse or Common–Law Partner Class) or Humanitarian and Compassionate Cases, Live–in Caregiver, Protected Persons and Convention Refugees.

PR under Economic class (SW, CEC or PNP) must submit their application for a Canadian Consulate. There is certainly no "Canadian" Consulate in "Canada" :) The person is eligible to either apply to the Canadian Consulate that serves his home country OR to the Canadian Consulate in US (Buffalo is the general one) if they have been legally admitted to either Canada or US for at least one year.
