Since there will be no minister for Citizenship and Immigration from this coming Tuesday to Oct 19, 2015 when the new Federal Government will form. After that, Minister responsible for Immigration and Citizenship portfolio will be selected by the then Prime Minister. How will it affect the applicants awaiting oath ceremony during the period that fall between now to Nov 1, 2015, since the certificate is issued by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration granting the naturalization of Canadian citizenship?

Will the oath ceremonies be postponed until the new government selects the cabinet ministers?

Thanks

well then I guess there in no definitive answer to this as there are lots of if's and but's in the only answer that makes some logical sense. Rest of the posts on the link presented above are irrelevant.

"The Canadian government continues to exist and function even though Parliament has been dissolved. CIC will continue to function and process applications.

While technically, now, since August 2014, the Minister is the one making the decision to grant citizenship and is the authority actually granting citizenship, I believe the Minister's delegates will continue to have the Minister's authority even while the Cabinet is disbanded and there is no sitting Minister of CIC. Not certain of this, perhaps oath ceremonies will be suspended for the campaign, but that seems unlikely.

Overall CIC will continue to function as is.

Term "government" has multiple meanings. There will continue to be a Canadian "government" during the formal election campaign."

So based on this, no one really knows if the oath ceremonies will be postponed or the program delivery will commence as usual.

Cheers

What I know for sure... is that my wife still has an invitation for her Oath this Aug 5th in Montreal :) if the oath ceremonies has to be postponed...it has not started yet...

CIC website shows oath invites for month of August. It means that would be conducting oaths etc.

I hope your wife will get her oath on 5th August. If there is a postpone of schedule then please let us know.

Good luck and best wishes.

All citizenship oath ceremonies are now dissappeared from CIC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/citcer/search-recherche-eng.aspx

I am scheduled for August 18th. Not sure if it's just a glitch or if they are actually going to postpone the oath ceremonies until election and then re-schedule.
