Hey everyone,
Hope you’re doing well. I have a few questions about self-employment (work history, personal history) as I was being self-employed for 3+ years while studying, lived in 2 countries, and am also planning on claiming 1 year of foreign work experience in my EE application.
Timeline overview
Residence: Sep 2017 - Aug 2020 (Denmark), Aug 2020 - Aug 2021 (Czech Republic)
Student: Sep 2017 - Jan 2021 (Denmark, moved to the Czech Republic for my last semester as we were only writing a bachelor thesis - no offline lessons)
Self-Employed, REMOTE: Apr 2018 - Sep 2021 (registered in the Czech Republic, lived in Denmark and the Czech Republic)
Sub-contractor for a Canadian company, REMOTE (under my self-employment, claiming 1 year of foreign experience): July 2020 - August 2021 (registered in the Czech Republic, lived in Denmark and the Czech Republic)
As there are a lot of moving pieces, I have a few questions I would like to ask:
1) Self-employed for 3 years, claiming only 1 year of foreign work experience
I was self-employed for 3 years (Apr 2018 - Sept 2021), however, I am only planning to claim 1 year of foreign work experience as I was a subcontractor from July 2020 - August 2021, working 40hrs a week for 1 company. How would you go about this in work history and personal history? Do I just include my subcontractor experience in my work history as “Self-employed - Subcontractor for Company A” (July 2020 - August 2021) and my whole self-employment timeline (Apr 2018 - Sept 2021) in personal activity as “Self Employed”?
2) While subcontracting, I moved countries (Work History, claiming points)
While I was a subcontractor for a Canadian company where I worked remotely (July 2020 - August 2021), I lived in Denmark in July and August 2020 and moved to the Czech Republic in August 2020 where I stayed up until August 2021. How do I go about entering the work history in the work history section? Can I just mention that I was a subcontractor between July 2020 - August 2021 and include the Czech Republic as the “country”? Or do I need to divide this subcontractor work between Denmark and the Czech Republic? I was working remotely for the same Canadian company the whole time.
3) While being self-employed, I moved countries (Personal History)
Similarly to the above, while I was self-employed between Apr 2018 - Sep 2021, I lived in Denmark (Apr 2018 - Aug 2020) and the Czech Republic (Aug 2020 - Aug 2021). Which country do I include in the “personal history” section? Or do I divide this into two parts - when I lived in Denmark and the Czech Republic?
4) Self-employment overlaps with my studies which were my main focus
While studying, I was self-employed but haven’t done much as I was focused on my studies. Since my study and self-employment overlap, should I explain somewhere that studies were my main focus or do I just include both in my personal history and that’s it?
5) Self-employment registered in the Czech Republic, but I lived in Denmark
I assume that even though I registered my business in the Czech Republic, while living in Denmark, I should still include Denmark as the “country” in my personal history, right? Basically, enter where I lived at that time when I was doing the activity.
6) Moved abroad during my last semester of university
I studied from Sep 2017 - Jan 2021 in Denmark. I lived in Denmark from Sept 2017 to Aug 2020 and then moved to the Czech Republic, as our last semester was only for writing a bachelor thesis with no offline classes. I am slightly concerned that my study history will mention that I studied in Denmark from Sep 2017 to Jan 2021, but my address history will mention that I lived in Denmark to only Aug 2020 and then moved to the Czech Republic. Is that something I should be concerned about?
Any responses are appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Sky
