Hi everyone,

Just wandering what people's thoughts are on what effect the recent EE announcements will have on the score needed to get an ITA. Do you forsee the number of points required for an ITA increasing or descreasing from where they have been recently (i.e. around 470-480)?

I found it interesting to read somewhere recently that roughly half of the successful applicants through EE have had jobs supported by LMIAs (and therefore giving them an extra 600 points). Now that the bonus points for having a qualifying job will be only 50 points (in most cases), I would speculate that overall round scores will likely decrease from their recent levels, even with the changes announced for foreign students.

What are people's thoughts on this? (noting that anything we say is pure speculation, but hey, its fun to speculate, right?)
I agree thats why I pasted the news. If people with job offer are getting only 50 then obviously overall cut off will reduce dramatically and so if PNP cut-off.What does gurus things about it..

Hi There,

Sorry I didn't understand that how come you are losing 58 crs points with a difference of only 0.5 in writing rest all being good. My calculation shows that I'l be losing 20 crs pts with a gap of 0.5 in writing. Does that means if suppose you got 7 in writing your score will jump up to 478? Please explain.

As per the current ranking system, I am getting CLB 10 in LRS section and CLB 8 in W, making my score in the Official languages proficiency factor as 125(34*3+23). Had I scored half a point more in IELTS W, I would have been CLB 9 equivalent in writing which would have given me 8 more points , thereby making my Official languages proficiency score as 131(34*3+31)
Currently, I do not fit the criteria in Skill transferability factor to fetch 50 points each in Education and Work experience since I do not have CLB 9 in all the 4 sections(LRSW) and therefore had to settle for 25 points each.
A CLB 9 in writing would have given me those extra 50 points in Skill transferabilty and 8 points Official languages proficiency. Thus making it 58. Hope it makes sense.
PS: I am a post-graduate with more than 3 years of experience.

The first thought would be that probably score cut offs will get much lower because of much decreased work contract score (it is now 50-200 instead of 600!)...
But at the same time, a very important point to note is the new score that will be given to studying in Canada (15-30)...all of the students already waiting in line will benefit from that..which may increase the cut off...
I imagine it is hard to tell now, probably all in all the cut off will get lower but not as what people expect...because of the significant number of applicants (students) who will get higher scores because of education in canada

This score cut off for Job Offer is declared somewhere officially on CIC website? Or it's just some news?

I don't want to sound pessimistic here but I would suggest anyone without a score of at least 470 do one or more of the following -

1) Increase language scores - A CLB-9 (8777 LRWS) in IELTS will increase your CRS by a lot.
2) Secure a Provincial Nomination - This awards 600 points and guarantees an ITA.
3) Get IELTS and ECA done for spouse - This can get you a few points.

People have been expecting for the scores to come down for a long time now. EE pool has become extremely competitive and the number of people applying are more so IMO, I don't think the scores will come down by a significant number anytime in the near future. I mean - Even though they set the CRS at 470, there were 2400 + applicants in the pool.

This was posted in good conscience and NOT to demotivate anybody. Wish everyone good luck and all the very best!

Thanks! You dont sound demotivating at all.

Can you throw any light on how come the October intakes are getting nomination but July, August...are still pending? What could be the reason?

Depends on the stream. Express Entry streams are a lot quicker. There is a non EE stream (I believe it is called the OID stream) and that is very slow compared to the EE streams.
I am talking about EE stream only. They are processing faster for October intakes but July and August still pending. Dont understand what could be the reason behind this! Do they just put on the back burner the old pending applications as new come in?

Okay, I am not aware of the nuances of processing speeds of SINP but on a high level, they take anywhere from 2 - 4 (sometimes more) months from date of application to issue nomination. I am not sure why October applicants are getting nominated quickly - You might want to post the question on the relevant SINP thread and seek an explanation.
