Education Requirements for EE

I am hoping someone could re-assure me on something. I have not yet made my profile for EE, as I am waiting for my UK GCSE & Hairdressing diploma certificates to be assessed by WES.

I went to see an immigration consultant who told me that my hairdressing should class as the higher education diploma in college or university for 2 years.
I have spoken to a few people on a Facebook forum and someone has advised me that my hairdressing would not class as anything. However, I was offered a job as a hair stylist last year. Has anybody come across this before? Or knows if my diploma would come under that?

Thank you in advance!

You'll have to wait for WES response here. Your GCSE won't get you any points and getting them assessed is not necessary and is a waste of money. It's only post secondary (post A level) that gets you any points.

Your hairdressing course is dependant on where you studied and if WES recognise it as an institution. Usually this only applies to universities or some colleges. I'm going to say you won't have any education to claim in ee. Your job holds no baring on what qualifications you have, so you can still claim work experience without having a qualification.

Do you know if I need to have my transcripts sent direct from the company to WES? Or if they will accept them direct from me? I am having mixed responses foe this as I have already paid 200 British pounds getting duplicates of them sent to me

Wes' instructions clearly say transcripts should be sent directly from your university. You should send them a copy of your degree. Just read the instructions on the Wes website.

Even so getting your gcse's done was a complete waste of money. Cic don't recognise them at all. You may as well have sent off your swimming certificates.

I don't have a degree, it is a diploma from a college. I will have to try and contact them and hope they don't charge me again.

Sorry, transcripts should be sent from the college.

The instructions you were given should have said that transcripts should be sent sealed direct to them from your uni/college. You have to send Wes a copy of your degree. What did your original email instructions say?

I definitely feel that you have wasted a lot of money here. Sorry.

I did not have my certificates as I have never needed them. So I have had to pay to get duplicates of them, which were delivered to my home address in the UK, which my parents have now forwarded on to me. Had I have known this I would have had them sent direct to the company for assessment, which I did not know.

I do not have a degree, just high school education and a diploma in hairdressing.

The way Wes works is that they assess your transcripts, the breakdown of what you studied, and compare it to a Canadian equivalent.

It sounds like your hairdressing diploma didn't have any transcripts. If it did, you were required to ask your college to send their record of your transcripts directly to Wes. You had to simultaneously send your diploma certificate to Wes. Wes would receive both and then send you the Canadian equivalent.

Hairdressing would likely be seen as a trade, not an academic skill.

The original email from Wes would have likely said "ask your institution to send your transcripts direct to us, you send us a copy of your certificate". If you've only sent then your certificate they are probably still waiting for your college to send them your transcripts as well. If you didn't have transcripts, you'll likely never get your ECA.
