Hi,

I have a question regarding Education records for children for citizen application. Probably it has been already discussed, but I could not find any answers.

The Guide says:

“Provide photocopies of all your official education records if you attended an educational institution in the four (4) years immediately before the date of your application. Official education records are:
• report cards; or
• transcripts; or
• attendance records

Note: Student identification cards and letters from institutions, teachers, principals are not accepted as official education records. For example, an official transcript from an educational institution would satisfy this requirement. A letter from an institution is only acceptable in the following two circumstances:

1. Child has recently enrolled in school and a report card has not yet been issued
2. Child is being homeschooled (see below)

I am confused. I called a school board trying to get copy of report cards for my daughter but I was told that I need to contact the school. But, the guide says that letters from institutions are not accepted.
The same story with attendance records. They are also provided by the school and signed by principal. So, they are not accepted.

What should I provide then? My daughter is in grade 2.

Best regards,
Denis

I think I got it. ;D

Any other letters from institution are not accepted, but attendance records and report cards from the school are Ok. Right?

This has been discussed many times but I don't mind answering again if it helps you. What they are looking for is the evidences for presence or absence of you during the relevant residency period.

If you are in Toronto and your kids TDSB students, go to school and

1) Get the school record - ask for Index which has enrollment information with a photo of your kid. TDSB school office staff are used to and issue without any hesitation. Some times on the spot but if they are busy you will have to pick up later/next day.

2) Copy of report cards - which shows the absences and late records on the top right hand side of the page. Report cards are send home usually end of every term. So you will have it ready, make copies and attach.

Sample is below: The one on right - ntario Elementary Provincial Report Card

If you are not TDSB look for some thing similar your school issues.

Remember, you have to attach this to PARENT'S application, not kids.
