I think Rupeshri got that information from one of the CIC pdf files. It is quite clear about points. This doesn't mean that they don't give 25 points because they don't know any better, but I think what rupishri is saying is accurate. Also you have to wonder when consultants say 25 points because of course, they want your work. Another things to consider is if someone puts down 25 points when they should have gotten 20, you need to ask if their total was 73. Because if CIC gives them 20 points, they would end up with 68, which is enough.

1. You won't get 25, 22 max, most likely 20.

Dear rojer you have to specify what is the degree. If it is fcps, mcps, md (after mbbs), or some diplomas like dcps or other. Only specialization means nothing. Thanks . Aamir

We are talking about a medcial doctor with 2 specialties , nephrology and internal medicine.

i have myself applied and my few friends who are specialists.. i have claimed 25 points in my initial n full application. similar for my MD friends.even the consultant calculated the same.

That is my opinion also , but no one so far has proved it right in this forum so I cannot be certain until someone confirms it. You applied and expect the 25 points , but we will not be sure you got 25 until your application is processed. In the mean time , is there anyway to find out ?????

no.of formal years of study

what to write in box for the formal years of study.
i have done

12th class-12 years
bachelor's degree(B.D.S.)- it is of 5 years but i took 6years to comlete it becoz of reappear

my spouse
12th class-12years
bachelor's degree(M.B.B.S.)- its of 5.5 years but he took 7.5 years

and these years should be only digits,no points like 17.5 either it should be 17 or 18
plz reply soon

Put 17 for 2 reasons.
1) you have completed at least 17 years of study and not 18 years of study.
2) 17 or 18 years make no difference in terms of points for you. Its all 20 points.

but then they have asked us to write duration i.e. from and to
when i will write according to my certificates duration would b more. i started my course in aug2002 and completed it in june 2008 it comes about 6 years
12+6=18years???????

write the duration as you experienced it (i.e. with 18 years), but write the standard time it would take to complete the degree for number of years.
Write a letter to say why there is a discrepancy.
I am no expert but this is what I would do.

Maybe others can give their opinion too.

@ aaycee

Rupeshhari is very much right, tt should be 17 years, they are asking about 'FORMAL YEARS OF EDUCATION' means "the number of classes u have passed'. I can assure u.
Even there is no need to write any sort of explanation in cover letter, CHC usually don't care for such things, they will check these details from ur transcripts.

Cheers
