Education Count??

Advice on what to claim for education on Schedule 1 would be appreciated. Would the highest level reached be Masters and 18 years? Although the Masters was a Diploma not a Degree, it was earned after two Bachelors Degrees?
12 years Primary and Secondary School.
4 years Bachelors Degree Mech Engineering.
2 years(Distance Ed) Bachelors Degree of Commerce
The following two classes done in consecutive years while continuing the Distance Ed course:
1 year (Evening Class) Masters Diploma Computer App and Software Prog
1 year (Evening Classes) TWO Diplomas, one in Sound Eng another in Electronic Eng
The actual time span covers 18 years

At least 22 points for sure.

On their website they say "You have a master’s degree or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study." but on OP6, they say "University educational credential at the master’s or doctoral level and at least 17
years of completed full-time or full-time equivalent studies"

Since it says degree or university credential , they may require it to be from a university. If they somehow accept it, then you can get 25 points.

Thanks for your reply, Maaties. Yes, Masters Diploma was earned at a university deemed institution. Need 22 pts, but 25 would be nice insurance to have. Not sure if Masters level should be indicated on Sched 1 as it isn't a "degree". Any ideas?

is that where you mention all your degrees and educational qualifications.
If yes, then you should mention it if you are trying to get points for it.

Wow, that was a quick reply! Double checked and it is on IMM 0008, Ques 12 Education asking highest level of completed education. It gives a choice of Bachelor's or Master's DEGREES but not a Master's Diploma. You previously included the information "University educational credential at the master's or doctoral level and at least 17 years of completed full-time or full-time equivalent studies". Is there agreement that a Master's Diploma earned at a university deemed institution is what they mean here? Would it be advisable to include a note of explanation for the decision to check off Master's Degree or would that make too big a deal of it?

I don't know. What is your language points?

if you have high language points and since you have 67 points by getting 22 in education points, I would almost think its better to explain it to them and that if they do not agree with you, they should give you 22 points.

If you do not have high language points, then I don't know. because one may get refused with low language points even though they have 67 points.

If I were you, and if with 14points, you get a total of 67points, this is what I would do.

1) claim for a masters, i.e., 25 points, and provide transcripts for both your undergraduate degrees and your masters.
2) write a letter saying that in India, MBA are called postgraduate diploma in management (am I correct) and that even IIM, premier business institute in India call it the same but the education is recognised as an MBA worldwide and can be used as a pre-requisite for entry in Phd programmes (am I correct in saying this). Also state that in the event they don't give you 25 points, you deserve 22 points because you have the required number of years of education and 2 undergraduate degrees.

Wait for others to tell you what they think as well.

How many years did you study? How many yeard did you study before your MD degree? Did you go straight from your high school into the MD degree?

Yes, can you get into PhD with your masters diploma. What is the difference between a masters degree and masters diploma?

Sorry to be so long winded about all this. I appreciate your patience. I don't know the difference betw Diploma and Degree in this instance, but the forms do not give a second option and I want the application to be absolutely correct. The transcript has the University of Mumbai seal on it. Official documentation for all credentials will be included in pkg. MANY thanks!
