Dear folks,
I am a new member of this forum.
I want to move Edmonton ,so have few queries here:
1)Which area in Edmonton is quiet safer for living lonely family,as my hubby will go back Middleeast ?
2)If the area has grocery stores, halal meat shops,LINC classes.public library, public school and evening madrasa in mosque.it would be definitely easy for me with my kids?
3)What would be the rent of 2 bedrooms apt.?
4)What is the monthly expense with 3 kids in Edmonton?
5)Is there any cheaper markets for clothings and grocery?
6)How is the public transport ?Is it same as in Toronto?
7)How is the odd job situation over there?
Could you share all informations and living experiences with me here?
Waiting for your prompt guidance,seniors!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found this website for you with a list of mosques: http://www.edmontonmuslims.com/Edmonton_Mosques.php and there is a list of halal meat shops on there too.

Safety of neighbourhood will depend much on the exact area, even a few blocks can make a difference. Generally the area north of the river close to downtown is not the best but if you are looking for an apartment, go to small shops or gas stations in the neighbourhood and ask what it is like. The people who work in stores that are open late can easily tell you if they worry about their safety when they go home after their shift ends and they have nothing to gain from lying while a landlord may tell you nice things about the neighbourhood if they want you to take the apartment. Keep in mind that if you sign a lease, you are stuck there for a year.

The transit system only has one train line north and south. If you do not live on this line, you are stuck taking the bus. If you are not planning to own a car, you have to take into account when you look for an apartment that it is either close to the train or on a good bus route. Same with any odd job that you look for, you have to look into if you can get a bus there. Odd jobs are generally not hard to find if you try.

Most people who are trying to save on their shopping will shop at Walmart or Superstore. You can get yourself one of those old lady shopping trolleys and take it up to Walmart on the train or the bus and try to do some bulk shopping.
