I know threads for Edmonton applicants are out there already, but is there anyone who applied recently (within 2~3 months ish or mid-late 2014) that would like to share their timeline? I'm seeing lots of ppl in the east getting their citizenship a lot faster than us in the west... and this starts to scare me :'(

Hi guys,
I have not applied yet but do you all mind sharing how many days did you apply after - meaning like 1096? 1100? etc
I am getting close to my 1095 days but have been reading that it is better to apply 10-20 days beyond 1095 days.
Please advise

Thanks

I had over 1400 days because I was too lazy to apply lol worst decision ever. But yeah, you should wait for 10-20 days just in case!

Hi
if you have not been outside the country then you are good to apply when reaching 1095 days of physical presence .

Hey folks,

The online residence calculator can likely MISLEAD you with its so called 1095-day eligibility calculation for your citizenship application. In fact, you become eligible to apply on the 1096th day since becoming PR, even though the online calculator would tell you're eligible to apply showing just 1095 days. The anomaly arises because CIC doesn't consider the day you arrive in the country in its residence calculation.

So, for instance someone became PR on 2 Jan. 2012, he/she can apply for citizenship NOT on 2 Jan 2015 but a day later although the online calculator would be happy to say "eligible to apply for citizenship."

Just my 2 cents!

Hi abdul,
I was out of the country only twice during the 4 year period.
1 year in my home country where I was working - and -
1 month vacation to my home country during my 3 years in Canada.
Its pretty straight forward so do you still think I should wait for 10 days extra beyond 1096?

Thanks
