I did get my P.Eng through APEGA, but I think my process was supported by having both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the US as well as having cleared the EIT/FE exam in the US, which exempted the requirement for degree/course evaluation. APEGA provides a highly detailed procedure at applyatapega.ca/?_ga=1.21896051.937908386.1415814551 in their online application guide.

Please review transcript requirements at applyatapega.ca/faqs.html#CanIusecopiesofmytranscriptsthatIhave) to make sure you can take care of this step which, while doable from within Canada, might be difficult to coordinate once you get here. There is a possibility that they conduct an evaluation and request you to complete additional courses or maybe write the Fundamentals exam (which I understand can be asked from non-North American graduates). You can (and should) register as an EIT at least in order to get yourself in the system.

Their application/registration process may have changed since the time I went through it, but for my specific case, I initiated my online application in December 2010 after I had received my landing visa/COPR and before landing. Reference checks took the longest (~ 2.5 months), and I wrote the NPPE (ethics exam) in April 2011 in Toronto and received my P.Eng in August 2011.

I don't know if you will be able to set this up to write an exam before landing, since the application review does take time. You can contact them to confirm if you can schedule the NPPE exam during your landing visit - I am not sure but I suspect they will allow you to write this exam while your application is in process. Hopefully, others reading this post and who have gone through this process with non-North American degrees can provide better guidance.

Myat, I don't have any soft copies. I read the books prior to the exam (and like you, scoured the net for any sample questions). In reality, the questions on the exam felt more of a test of the English language/comprehension - nuanced questions, which if you read carefully will have the right answer spelled out.

I just arrived last monday from Dubai. I have some question, I bring my rta driving certificate from Dubai is it still applicable even though it was expired 2 days ago? The registry will still accept it in order for me to get a road test immidiately? by the way driving history certificate from Dubai had expiration date.

It dosent matter it is expired or alive, They just want to see the number of year of your driving licence, if it shows more than two years then you are eligible for road test immediately. my driving licence was expired three years ago. they accepted it.

Does that mean that Alberta driving regulatory authorities accept old foreign driving experience even if one has not driven in the last two or three years?? In ontario, the experience should be fairly new (at least one year in the last three years) to be considered for the waiver of the mandatory waiting period for the full G licence. This is really interesting. :

I have seen every registery and the dealing person perception varies. so better to visit registery.

My first licence was made in my native country in December 2000 for five years, I did not renew it in 2005 and when I was coming to Canada in 2012, I got a fresh licence as they said your previous licence can only be renewed if its expiry is under three years. So I become fresh driver as per new licence. When I submited it Canada they did not accept fresh licence as it was two months old, but on producing my expired licence ( Expired in 2005) They counted my driving experience since 2000, Hence I got exmption from Learner Status.

So it may vary from province to province and Registery to Registerty too
