But winter is bad for business if I am not mistaken? (it is not the time when job offer flourish if you know what I mean...)

yeah, i got it :) well, actually we are about to land in Edmonton as soon as possible and avoiding unnecessary delay in our landing. Regarding job situation, I have seen various jobs related to my Network/System/Virtualization Engineering IT field. Hoping that I'll get the one in time.. if not, then I'll go towards career edge paid internship jobs. 8)

There are plenty of jobs within the IT sector. Unfortunately not everyone is IT specialist like you hahaha.
I am in a construction branch (CE- the core profession) and so far find it difficult to even get a phone call for an interview .... what would you seniors suggest for me to do in a first place since it seems that I can't go through some sort of shell that Ca job market for Civil Engineers / PM is surrounded with?

Now no jobs available in Alberta due to oil crisis. I came back to India last year after layoff from my company.

are you sure "no jobs" ?

Be very careful about moving to Alberta -- the economy here is in a grim state, and 2016 has at least the possibility of a further collapse. So far it has been caused by the destruction of the oil industry, and if that spreads into construction, service industries, and most dangerously, the housing market, this is not going to be a good place for newcomers to find work.

I got 3 job offers as a freelance in edmonton and there are 4 vacancies available in job bank which i'm applying in coming week.

So.. well about "no jobs" ::)
As I already mentioned i'm an IT guy...

wish me luck!

As I mentioned before, there probably are jobs available in IT sector, as the branch is expanding each minute world-wide. For example you could be in Edmonton and work for someone in China or the States (US) - the possibility that no other commercial sector has because you need physically be there (on the place where you perform work) ...

What is the cheapest way to travel from Edmonton international airport to Jasper avenue (NW) and how much it could cost? What are the taxi prices in Edmonton and their availability ? (Can you find them in every corner ?) What is the taxi price for 1 km?

I know there is a skyshuttle from the airport and it stops on certain addresses ...

The cheapest way is to take the skyshuttle (I think it's 5 bucks) to the LRT line (another 3 bucks). That'll get you to Jasper, but it's no fun arriving there with a lot of luggage. This isn't the season for dragging suitcases even half a block.

A taxi will be about 55 - 60 dollars.

Hello everyone,

Did anybody here applied or finished the Bridging Program for Accountants offered by Edmonton Mennonite Center for New Comrers (EMCN) and North Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)?

I just would like to know what type of Accounting exam they are giving for applicants?

Thank you

How is the job market in Alberta now after oil crisis?

Every city has its own dynamics of local economy, some cities are heavily dependent on oil e.g. Calgary, FortMc etc. these cities were hit by the oil crisis whereas Edmonton might have affected but not very badly.Odd jobs are still available I can see signs on Stores doors but it has decreased as compared to few years ago. You may get survival jobs and can learn new skills or refine your previous skills as per local market to penetrate in your own profession and it may take time, months or years. Either you are arriving or already arrived learn soft skills for success, e.g. Small fluent conversation, interview skills, mock interviews, presentation skills and computer skills etc to get an entry level job.

But this is true Whole Alberta is effected by the international oil crisis. Before coming to Alberta consider and reserach other potential cities too.

Best of Luck Buddies
