So the document number (starting with a T and then 9 digits) as per status tracker IS NOT on the eCOPR notwithstanding what other poster on the other thread said? You are not PR yet until you get the actual eCOPR available for you to download.
The number you get at this stage is an internal number.
It's approved but you are not officially a PR YET.
I am not familiar with US visitor visa renewal. It depends on what you need on the US side. They may be OK with eCOPR or they need PR card to proof your PR status.
You need to wait at the moment.
For me to renew my usa visitor visa, I need to tell them I am PR in Canada. I have to apply for renewal by mid April (within 2 yrs of initial usa visitor visa approval) so my renewal process does not change for worse.
The following is what the IRCC rep emailed me today:
Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document
When an application for permanent residence is approved, a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document is sent to all applicants. Your COPR will contain personal information about you.
The document is generally valid until the expiry date of your passport or the expiry date of an immigration medical examination that you and your accompanying family members have undergone, whichever occurs first. If you do not use your document to confirm your permanent resident (PR) status during its period of validity, you will have to submit a new immigration application.
Once permanent residence is granted, while you wait for your PR card (the official status document), you can use your signed COPR or your eCOPR to:
- Prove that you’re a permanent resident in Canada, and
- Apply for government benefits and services, such as your social insurance number so you can work.
