They actually don't assign a UCI number to the applicant until much later into the process.... atleast that's wut happened in my case if I recall correctly.... I used my details to log in n check up on the status.... my wife was assigned another UCI when our file was processed further.... I guess it was around the time they requested a re-medical.... that email had a UCI number n that was the one that they assigned to my wife.... after this point my wife was able to log in with her details using her UCI number

Whenever CIC contacts you they will issue you a UCI number. If they have previously contacted you then they will use that UCI going forward.

That is why sometimes the applicant has a UCI number before they apply for PR. For example, I have a UCI from when I participated in the IEC program. In one of the application forms they ask for the UCI of the applicant.

Ya so if u would like them to use the previous UCI number u should include it in the application.... otherwise they just assign a new one.... even if u have a UCI from before it will no longer b active by now so u can't use it to access n e thing.... only after they start processing ur application n update ur previous UCI number with ur current sponsorship application will u b able to use it to check the status on ur current sponsorship file

Incorrect. UCI stands for Unique Client Identifier. It would be pointless if they generated a new one every time. Mine has been active since 2011.

Some applicants cannot use their UCI until close to the end of applying/when CIC is about to make a decision, but the inability to use it via ECAS is because the visa office/officer has not updated the ECAS system.

Ya... ur supposed to have one unique UCI for ur entire lifetime but I've heard of cases where ppl didn't fill out the UCI number field in their application n were assigned new ones

Now that my process is over my UCI number is no longer active n I can't log back into ECAS using my UCI... same with my wife's... I guess it becomes dormant until u file another application with CIC

My husband sponsored his first wife (now deceased) back in 1997. His UCI number is the same one they assigned to him then.

After receiving your AOR, how long have you had to wait before being able to log in to ECAS?

I checked my status by using UCI &File number both but not showing my status as a sponsor. My wife status can check.
