The ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) is used to verify your foreign educational credential and is required by IRCC. Most people on the forum seem to use WES to do ECAs because of its quick turnaround (usually). You can do ECA before IELTS, they arent interdependent, but both mandatory. I ordered ECA for both my Bachelors and Masters Degree.

You can check the website for further information and costs, I think its one of the more affordable ones.

Just google WES ECA, and the site should come up, sorry I cant post links :(

Check this thread for the detailed process http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/educational-credential-assessment-eca-from-wes-step-by-step-guide-t394160.0.html

Yes, you can do it on your own. You can get IELTS and ECA done parallely.

You can use this tool to check the Canadian equivalency of your foreign degree http://www.wes.org/ca/evaluations/preliminary.asp?.

ECA will cost you CAD 322 (approx INR 17k) WES does not charge you by the number of degrees that are getting assessed, so I would suggest you send both Bachelors and Masters for assessment. If WES treats your Masters equivalent to Canadian Masters, then you get more points than just getting Bachelors assessed. On the other hand, if they consider your Masters equivalent to a Diploma and your Bachelors as Bachelors, then you can get more points by selecting the option 'two or more...' than just getting Bachelors assessed.

Hello, sir. Can you have a question about my canadian master and foreign bachelor too? I finished a two year master program about one year ago and I want to get the full points for master now in the EE system. Should I include my bachelor degree in the EE system? I was reading a lots of thread and they all have different answers. The following are the answers that I found in the forum.

(1) No need to get ECA for foreign bachelor, but need to include the foreign bachelor diploma, transcript and English translationm, and canadian master when submitting.
(2) No need to get ECA for foreign bachelor, and also no need include the foreign bachelor diploma either. Just include canadian master
(3) Need to include both foreign bachelor and canadian master. And need to get ECA done for the foreign bachelor

I am just really confused. As I am preparing all the material and hope to be drawn in the next a couple of rounds if I can get the master full mark. So I am at the end of my rope and really want a definitive correct answer for that. If I didn't make the document right, I think there is a high chance that my application will be rejected.

Thank you so much.

Since you have Masters from Canada, it will give you highest points for your education. You need not get ECA done for your Bachelors.

Check the FAQs on this page to know more about ECA for Express Entry http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/questions-answers-by-topic.asp?top=29

Hello Seniors,

Please clarify my concern with respect to masters & EE account.

I want to create my EE account to apply for Ontario PNP cos with completion of Masters, I hav a score of 400+.
But I am yet to receive my final year masters marksheet (possibly within a week or two), although I have the online result as passed.

I read somewhere one would require ECA/WES no. to complete the EE profile. Not a problem as I already got my Bachelors evaluated last year by WES.
Query 1:- Can there be any other issue while creating EE profile ?

If I receive & accept EOI from Ontario and fail to submit Masters WES report in time (within 45 days),
Query 2:- what could be the possible consequences (apart from mere rejection). Is there a possibility of suspension or restriction to apply again ?

Kindly if possible, share the link of the forum with information on EE account creation.

Thank you very much for the reply, sir. I have checked the Q&A section thoroughly. It said "to get points for your education under the Comprehensive Ranking System, you must either: have been educated in Canada, or have a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for your completed foreign education."

So I just want to make sure that if I even need to upload the foreign bachelor degree in my education history (without ECA)? To make sure that I included all the educational history?

Thank you

I understand your concern. But please note, CIC is concerned with the equivalency of the degree that you used to claim points. The main purpose of an ECA report is to help CIC assess your educational credential’s value in Canada. Since you are claiming points for your highest degree which is Masters from Canada, you need not be worried about getting ECA done for Bachelors. I believe that you would have seen the below points also in the FAQs.

Do I need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to apply as a federal skilled worker?
In most cases, yes. In order to immigrate as a federal skilled worker, you will need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). If you were educated in Canada, you do not need one.

What credential should I get assessed for immigration purposes?
You should choose the highest level degree, diploma or certificate (or combination) that will award you the most points. For example, you would get more points for an ECA report that shows you have a Canadian equivalent of a master’s degree than for one that shows you have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree.

On the forum, I have read about similar cases and they have got through. But still if you feel that you should get ECA done for Bachelors, you can get it done from WES. They are popular and have a quick turn around time of 20 business days once they receive the documents.

1. Yes, to create and submit an Entry Profile, you need to have your IELTS TRF and ECA Report ready. As long as you meet the minimum requirements mentioned here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-express.asp including FSW 67/100 score, you will be eligible to apply through Express Entry

If your Masters has been obtained outside Canada and you want to claim points for Masters, you will not be able to claim points until you have the ECA done for it. Till then you can claim points for Bachelors only (since it has already been assessed by WES). Meanwhile, if you get an invite from Ontario to submit your application for nomination (and if you do not have the WES report for your Masters), you cannot claim points for Masters as you do not have the ECA report. But you can still submit your documents to Ontario on the basis of the Bachelors.

2. No, in case your application is rejected on account of any missing documents, or not meeting the minimum requirement, there is no restriction to apply again in the future. However, if your application gets rejected on account of misrepresentation, you will face a five-year ban from submitting any further immigration applications to Canada, including temporary residence applications.

- You can use Come to Canada Tool to check your eligibility http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp
- You can check your score using this tool http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
- You can create your profile by referring to this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/profile.asp

Also, refer to the top two threads in this forum. It will answer most of your questions.
