ECA from University of Toronto Comparative Education Service (CES) - My Experience

Not sure how long they take. My steps 1 & 2 have been completed since March 2020.. and it's still stuck there. No progress.

Oh that was extremely delayed. Have you sent your BCA degree also for evaluation or just MBA degree?

My transcripts were received on January 29, 2020....since then only step 2: Transcript received is marked as complet...until may they responded to my emails but now nothing, total silence and is so frustrating!

I guess us who have submitted on May 4th, have no chance at all. I am still stuck on the first step. This was a terrible idea going with CES toronto

I got my ECA last week. Submitted my application in December 2019 and my transcript arrived in January. Some members of CES team got access to office in August 14 but most working from home because of the situation in toronto and toronto university. My university did not give electronic documents so i had to wait for them to review the one they got in January. Overall i am satisfied with the emails I got. Covid is not CES fault and they are doing their best. You can find the August email from the management here.

If CES contactyour University for "verification of your papers" is because they found discrepancy on your papers when they saw it or they think your Papers are not genuine. Someone mention this in another thread but if the University made a mistake they will let CES know and if the University tell CES Papers are not genuine CES will have to report. WES, ICES, CES, IQAS they all have to do it. When your University respond CES will let you know and give you assessment right away. don't worry you will be ok

I really admire your patience and the sametime I also look at the imcapability amd unprofessionalism of these folks at CES. I mean it took them 9 effin months to give you your evaluation. This is so wrong at so many levels. I mean how could covid affect the timelines when all you have to do is evaluate the document. It shouldnt take 9 months to do that. I get there were delays in transcript courier due to Covid times but for cases as yours, the 2nd step was done way before March. (Which got affected the most). So what are we missing here. All of this process shouldnt take more than two months max, and how is it possible that the evaluation for study puposes is given within 6 weeks? Its nothing but a scam and wastage of poor immigration aspirants valuable time. Btw did u get your evaluation as Masters or not?

I have applied recently and was worried as my initial review had not begun. I wrote to CES and got the below reply :

Hello Shravan,

My name is Ruth-Ann, I am the supervisor of the frontline team. I’m responding to your email directly. Our team is currently working on applications and not able to answer questions about when applications will be complete.
It looks like you’ve submitted your application fairly recently, I know it is difficult to wait to find out what step of the process you are in and it seems like nothing is happening with your application however I do assure you our assessor team is working on all applications in order of documents being received. I ask that you be patient and wait to hear from the assessor team if they have questions, need more information, or letting you know that your application has moved to the next stage.

I am including some information that I have been giving clients who have been with us longer to help you know what to expect.
Here is what our teams are doing to get applications caught up:
1) Our first priority is applications. Emails are answered as we are able but currently our staff is trying to get applications caught up. Please do not email or go to live chat for status updates.
2) Our phone staff was reduced to have them help with application processing. We instead have just a few working on chat to give our clients some way to get help or ask questions.
3) The CES manager has hired more people to get the applications caught up. With a new team of people coming in and working, applications will be getting processed faster.

What to expect:
1) Watch your online profile and email, the assessor team will email you directly each step of the process. Your online profile will have the most up to date information
2) Our assessor team is not available to answer status questions right now so they can focus on getting applications worked on. Please be assured they will contact you and update you as soon as they are absolutely able.

Looks like they are doing everything necessary to work on the caught up applications and make the process faster. These are unprecedented times which will require patience.

How many degrees did you ask for evaluation? and when in Jan did you get your step 2 completed status?

I submitted my application in 7th Jan 2020 and my transcript received at CES in 18th Feb 2020. Since then my status is only completed till step 2. I did not ask any of my Universities to provide electronic copies. Not sure by when will I get ECA done.

If it's of any help, CES has said that they have recruited new members to clear the application backlogs as well as engaged most of their staff who previously used to attend phone calls and emails towards clearing all the applications. So this shall help in speeding up the process in the coming days. Fingers crossed.

4 March: Application submitted
Transcript stuck at DHL from March 18
1 Jun: transcript delivered
18 Sep: step 2 completed

It took 3.5 months for CES to find & open my envelope. Have no idea when I can get the ECA done.
Will it help if my institution send the transcript by email now? Or it won't make any difference?

Did anyone here get the evaluation done recently? How's the timeline?
