Hello,

I have a diploma from the US and I just received my report, it says -

Canadian Equivalency: Diploma (two years) from a non-recognized institution

Remarks: Only institutions accredited by one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States are regarded by WES as recognized in Canada.

CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY

Diploma (two years) from a non-recognized institution.

My questions is if I can claim points for the degree.

Any help is appreciated.

Reading between the lines of WES Remarks, it seems like you won't be able to claim points of the diploma in question.
Please see if while calculating CRS you are given any such option to add diploma from a non-recognized institution nevertheless.

from the cic website:
"
The ECA report must show that your completed foreign credential (degree, diploma or certificate) is equal to a completed Canadian secondary school (high school) or post-secondary credential.

"

You won't be able to claim points for this.

The CRS calculator will award points on the basis of what you select as an option when creating the EE profile but when you have to prove the points earned with documentary proof and provide the ECA after the ITA stage, you will have to explain yourself and hope that the explanation is considered by the officers. That is a risk of misrepresenting yourself.

Safest and best option is to not claim points as it says in the remarks (although in a roundabout way) that you do not have equivalency.

Supposedly I do claim points and the do not accept this ECA and reject my application, what is the next step?

So according to this It should not be a problem right? since it does not say anything about the institute
AFAIK no you can't use it. it's not recognized in canada

The sensible thing to do would be to not claim points for this. The report says that you do not have equivalency. While I can understand that this is disappointing news but you must not misrepresent. Misrepresentation when discovered will lead to a ban from entering Canada for 5 years.

claiming points for something you don't deserve is a road you don't want to go down on

is this your only degree?

is this your only degree?
No, I have a bachelors from IQAS , they did not recogize this same degree and did not mention it on the certificate. The thing is my actual education was for year, it was an accelerated course, and wes recognized it as 2 years.

Please use the bachelor's for which you do have equivalency. Do not claim points for this course.

honestly i wouldn't have bothered getting the ECA from wes for that other diploma since IQAS already didn't give you an equivalency for it.
stick to your bachelor, at least you have something

I went for it since I could choose two or more degrees, right now my crs is at 413. WES told me they would inform me if the counted and would issue a refund

I have also done my ECA from wes but it says Canadian equivalency is three year of post secondary study at non recognized institution.I am applying permanent residence through Atlantic immigration pilot program. What does it mean it's not recognized? Can i proceed my application? Please help me
