Hi all

I was just filling out the form and I was wondering whether I will need a letter of work experience if I checked the box "completed while under a study program"

I read that some people included it under personal details but it doesn't allow me to insert without selecting a diploma/degree, etc... which doesn't make sense because I already received it while under diploma of 3 years

Which one is the right way to include co-op experience?

I suggest not to include, since it was a part of your study, not individual employment. Also, you don't need any experience letters. Only include experience letters from your work experience on work permit.

I am assuming your coop is in Canada and You don't get any point for coop experience so including that in work history makes no sense.

Include that in personal history as employment activity. Mention word coop in job title field.

Quote from CIC website:
"Can I count work experience that was part of my education toward the work requirement?

"No. Co-op terms and apprenticeships completed before graduating do not count as skilled work experience. They are considered part of an educational program.
"The work experience you can use to apply for the Canadian Experience Class must not have been gained while studying full time on a student permit (for example, experience gained while on a co-op work term). "

Since this is not counted as work experience towards CRS points, you were technically still a student and you don't need to include that in any form of work history. If you moved for work, I guess it will be included in the address history and that's it.

Another thing is you probably need to make efforts to provide documents to support something that doesn't matter... I had coop work terms with GE and when I asked, it was A LOT of effort just to ask HR to issue a work history statement... Don't bother.

I included it in the original profile before the ita :-[

However, I'm wondering how am I supposed to put it in personal details if I am always being asked whether I completed another degree or not.

Confusing :s

Thanks

So you are saying to remove it from work history and add under personal history but still under employment? Would it matter if I added it under work history initially?

TIA

The problem with that is that they may screw me and count that as misrepresentation

You're not claiming points for such work experience, whether you make the change now after receiving your ITA is still fine as such work experience added no value to your application in the first place. That is to say, this work experience is completely irrelevant.

Add it to the personal history section. Period.

Thanks!

Would that still be under employment though?

employment or education are both fine.

simply state the word "co-op" so the officer knows exactly why it was included.
