I also received the same email and when I checked CIC account, there is a new message requesting passport. The status has not been updated though!

Did you guys click on 'Check status and messages' under the Action tab? If you still can't see the message, may be you guys can wait a couple hours and check back.

I sent inquiries about my status last week and they replied me yesterday, with useless information as:

Our office confirms that your application is currently in process as per regulatory procedures.

Please note that we cannot confirm when your file will be ready for finalization.

Please visit your MyCIC account for instructions on when to send your passport for the issuance of your visa.

Should you wish to travel urgently and recover your passport, you may send us a request to withdraw your application.

Hey man, I got the same email about 5 minutes ago. But when I logged in to my CIC account, no new messages are to be found. Seems like the same issue are before. My application status says that it has not been started as of now.
I did not email them with regards to this issue. I am not sure which email to send this question to? I sent another email regarding a question about application process about a month ago to some of their email address. All I received was that they do not provide support in for application related issues. I am not sure whom to email about these message notifications. Do you know any email address we can ask? Did u email them?

Hey I got another email says I have a new message. Now it's true! I got passport request just now

Hey namaste, I just received passport request (along with my spouse' too). Do we only need to put in ONE envelope with postage for them to return both passports? or we need put in two? Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. Congrats on getting the TRV. I see u applied on Nov. 3rd. I applied on Dec. 19. Given your timeline, I shouldnt be expecting it any time soon.

Don't worry. I've seen so many people that applied way later than me but got notice before me. Hope you get it soon

I put both passports in the same envelope. Also, just one return envelope addressed to one of us.

Got another email...no new message in my CIC account. Its getting very annoying now.

Anyone ever received an e-mail that their CIC account has been updated, but when log in no new information is present ?

I had the same situation - I had applied extension in stay for my wife. I got an update email a day after I submitted the application. So I called CIC call centre. They looked into it and said that they had just updated me as a representative on her file that's why I got the email. And that was the end of that.

It's annoying, yes but at least I got the answer.

The system seems to generate a lot of e-mail messages!

I uploaded a TRV application for my wife and daughter on Jan 8. On Jan 9 I got one email for each saying there was a message. Then on Jan 10, two more emails but nothing changed. Then on Jan 14, two emails again but nothing new. On Jan 15 I got the passport request for my wife but nothing regarding my daughter. This morning was again 2 e-mail messages saying each application was updated but once again nothing. I continue to wait to see when the second passport request is finally made.
