Hello everyone, I did the oath today and was able to download my ecertificate. My son was on my application, with both our oath documents submitted at the same time.
I thought when i downloaded mine i would have received his. Can someone advise or state what their experience was when they were downloading for a family? Did you have to create separate accounts to download the document or were you able to download all from one account?

Thanks in advance

What did you select in the application?
I chose paper even the email I sent back with the oath I specified that I want paper but today got instructions how to download but I can’t download it gives a message that the code is invalid probably is an automatic message everyone receives even if they choose paper that why I am not sure hopping someone has passed same situation to understand how it has worked for them

Hi everyone! I have my oath scheduled for March 20, and I’ll be traveling to take it. How long does it realistically take to receive the e-certificate? Can we request it urgently? Also, I believe the urgent passport would be available the next day—can anyone confirm? Just trying to plan my flight accordingly.

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

You can explain your situation during the ceremony. We've seen people report getting their e-certificate the same day. But it's not a certainty either.
Also, the most urgent passport application from Canada is indeed by the end of the next business day. But, even if you get your e-certificate on March 20, there's no guarantee you can apply for a passport on the same day (say if it takes a few hours, and the passport office closes by then), so you may not get it by the end of March 21, and March 22 is a Saturday...
While absolutely possible, rolling the dice on the best case scenario may not always work, and no-one here knows how it will actually go in your specific case.
A better bet is to stay here for a few more days, planning to get the passport by, say, the next Tuesday or Thursday, or, if not possible, why not just apply for your passport from the country you're heading to? You don't need the Canadian passport to leave the country, and you can apply at the nearest consulate or high commission anyway.

Thanks for you input. Yeah I am more inclined to book flight for one week so i can get things done hopefully. I have few more questions if you don't mind shedding some light on.

1. When can I expect the oath email invite? And is that the only way to find out if it’s virtual or in-person?

2. I’ll be traveling for the oath, but my 5-year-old won’t be coming with me. That should be fine, right? Anything I should keep in mind since he’s not accompanying me? I assume I’ll still be able to download his e-certificate and apply for his passport?

3. I used to be able to access my kid’s tracker, but after LPP, I can’t log in anymore—same thing now that my oath is scheduled. Last time I checked (Feb 25, before LPP), his tracker had no updates, just “application filed.” Is this normal?

5. Any other tips or advice?

Thanks Again

1) Usually one or 2 weeks before, so you should get it soon. And yes, that's how you'd know. But if you want, have a look at this. If you find an in-person ceremony in your city on that same date, maybe you'll be invited to it (or maybe not!) https://secure.cic.gc.ca/CeremonyCeremonie/en/Home

2) Yeah it's fine. Have his PR card with you. It needs to be cut. Not sure about the actual procedure, whether it needs to be done during the ceremony, or a proof sent after, but if you have it on you, you'll be ready for it regardless. Can't think of anything else.

3) I don't know, but it doesn't really matter as his application simply depends on yours and there's nothing to actually assess on IRCC's side except whether you are a citizen or not. Don't worry about it.

4) Yeah. Take the time to celebrate. It's a nice milestone, and if your current passport is "not great", potentially a life-changing moment! Congrats and welcome to the club in advance!
