I signed up for e-cas tracker and already got the notification of my sponsorship approval. This tool is amazing!!!

Just wondering, now that my sponsor has client ID and I have my client ID (I heard it will be same one if I have one from study permit before), do I need to update anything or sign up another identification in e-cas if sponsorship approval process was tracked by e-cas using my receipt number. When the file has been forwarded to CIC office that responsible for my case, will e-cas still track using the receipt number that I signed up before?

You can use either client ID or receipt number.

Thanks - I'm glad you're finding it useful.

Either the receipt number or the client ID can be used to log into e-CAS, so if the tracker is already following the sponsor's e-CAS using the receipt number, there's no need to change anything.

Once the PR portion of the file is in process, the sponsor's e-CAS will show you all the info the applicant's does (and consequently, the tracker watching the sponsor's file will notify you of changes on the PR application). So, it's not necessary to sign up with the applicant's details too, although some people do - that typically means you just get two emails when anything changes on the PR portion of the application, rather than one.

(The reverse isn't the case though - the applicant's e-CAS only shows the PR application info, not the sponsorship information.)

It's worth noting that updates when the PR file is being processed are few and far between. Even if something is done to the file, they often don't update e-CAS.

I think you're confusing the official e-CAS service and the tracker people are talking about here. The tracker's raison d'etre is the notification emails.

Yes - it's safe. The tool was built by matthewc who is a long time member here and went through the sponsorship process himself. Many of us here (myself included) have used this tool to make our lives easier.

just received an email from E-cas Tracker told me that my wife has been approved as a sponsor ,which happened along time ,but didn't tell me anything about the PR application which is currently in process,but still nice tool

I guess you are trying with your wife's details.
To enable tracker to send updates to the file processed currently - you must login with applicant(yourself) application id , surname , UCI , dob etc and not your wife's
