Hi All,

In 2015 I was employed by a Canadian company for 6 months, and returned back home to the states. I was re-employed by another company in Canada June 2016 and have been employed for 9 months.

My employment is under the NAFTA program. I read that if I'm employed for at least a year, I can apply for Express Entry granted I have passed the English test. My question is, does my 6 months in 2015 qualify as 1 year total to apply for Express Entry? Or does it have to be 1 year consistent? Thank you in advance.

You can definitely use that 6 months as part of your Canadian work experience, since it is within 3 years from now, but be sure that you can gather tax slips and reference letter from your employer for that period of employment. And, make sure it was a job under NOC 0,A B

I'll have to dig that up. If I can't find my reference letter, and just consider my current employer's window of employment which will be 1 yr in June, can I still apply now since it will take 6 months to process? Or do I have to wait until the 1 yr mark to apply. Also, when should I take my English test?

You can use the 6 month experience from 2015+current employement to get in to the pool. Do your English test now, otherwise you won't be able to know your CRS score.
